Hi has anybody experianced wind buffeting with the peak on this helmet at 65-80mph Im not sure if its just the high screen on my bike causing it as I havnt had a chance to ride another bike at this speed with it on. I can see the peak resonating and flexing at the front lip at these speeds. I can stop it by tilting my head but thats not really the answer.
Cheers Rob

It's the uneven airflow from your screen that is causing the problem. I have a Tour-X and it's fine if the airflow is smooth (but dont look up at low flying aircraft when riding at 90mph!).

Basic product plug of the finest order coming up: try Tobinators :D

Just to add credence to the blatant plug :D

I have no personal gain from reccomending tobinators but I have them on my 1150GS and I use a Tour-X and as Andy (sorry Tobers) says it is not a problem, not that I'm a plane spotter mind :P

Sorry to Hijack but.....

What do you guys think of the Tour X? is it quite? comftorbale, worth the extra compared to a MotorCross helmet????

What I can add to the thread is I wear a Motor cross helmet with a peak on my 1100, and don't have a problem, used to have turbalance problems before fitting Tobins, before hand it effect the whole helmet not just the peak.

It's a no-brainer to choose it over a Motorcross Helmet (though I have one of these too). The goggles kill your peripheral vision for road riding.

Its it quiet? Not as quiet as my Schuberth S1 full face but then nothing is.

Is it comfortable? Yes though a bit draughty this time of year.

I have no objection to the price I paid for mine :D and if you have a scout around these pages you'll find some decent prices.

Back to thread ;)

Thanks guys I will play with the screen settings. Very pleased with it otherwise, have always had an MX lid before, googles are pain on the road as you say.

I agree, never had a problem with the tour X though bad screen settings can cause havoc with any helmet, never by Semdecs, they are rubbish

Funny this should be posted today. I have just come home from my first ride with my new Tour X on and suffered a little bit of resonance, but only on the left side of the helmet. It wasn't bad by any means, just noticable. It seems to come and go depending on speed/wind direction/angle of head etc. Can't say I found any buffeting probs, but maybe that takes a higher warp speed than I was travelling at this afternoon. ;)

The peak needs to be tightened up pretty well and adjusted to your needs. I find the peak more stable when it is in the 'up position' rather than pulled forward. They are noisy and very drafty. A foggy mask can be stretched into the lid with reasonable effect to eliminate some of the draft.

It's not an ideal road lid!

I had loads of bother weith buffeting on my 1150.Tried tobinators on std screen no good, tried adv screen, no good.Rode with my MX lid, loads better.Bought tour-x, better still, fitted MRA vario screen , perfect. Have no buffeting issues with my tour-x at all.
