Just got an Arai Tour-X and while the lid is great I am having a problem with the visor misting up in the cold.

I have had a look at a fog city insert but I dont think it would fit due to the shape of the visor.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Cheers.
Andy

I've got a fog city in mine...fit's ok but I still don't like the starring you get with oncoming lights.

The only real solution I found in the 6 years of commuting 100 miles a day was a Huffer or foggy.

The only thing close was a liberal helping of washing up liquid.

Now I have tried a Arai and reckon you could get a foggy one in there, not sure though.

Haven't found it a problem with mine... seems well ventilated.
In fact these days I'm wearing one of those little skull caps to keep the top of my head warm..:D yes, I know.. baldy:(

A thin coat of washing up liquid then polish till you can see no smears with a soft cloth, wear a Buff tube thingy as they are thin enough to get between the cheek pieces.

Cheers Graham.;)

go for

the Foggy mask. they work very well and are comfortable. The washing-up liquid thing works but only for a short time.

I've been using Fog City inserts for years, no problems. You do need to replace them once a year and they can confuse with refraction of oncoming lights.

I take it that you did get the Arai version of the insert:confused:

Standard Foggy insert & Foggy X insert;

Not sure if the "X" one seals as well as the standard, as it velcros to the side parts and doesn't have the nose clip. Seems more for off-road helmets without visors.

As GSMonkey says, there's different versions of the std one.

Thanks for all the advice.
Not actually bought an insert yet. Looked at them in the bike shop.
I do have an insert that I got free from Ride which is an Oxford universal.
Thinking about trying to get it to fit.
Anyone tried these?

Cheers for now.

Fog City Pro Shield Universal fits the Tour X, anybody used the HyperOptics (polychromatic) version?

Had the HyperOptic fitted to my Arai Cygnit, excellant bit of kit would recomend one.
Not sure if needed with the Tour-X with the peak, did'nt have the X long enough to find out, will try on the second one:eek:

have you tried messing about with the little grille in the front?
inside the helmet, u can have it up or down as well as open /closed....... in the up posn no misting probs. it just moves up or down with small pressure

Thanks, Les, I'll give it a try

Andy, doubt if the Oxford one would fit an Arai, their visors seem to have a sort of double curvature surface - all the Fog City stuff has a separate version for Arai's
