I know the question has been asked before but i just want to be sure.:aidan

I am looking a buying a tour X 3 to replace my Shoei XR1000.
I ride a gs1200 but my problem is i dont know anyone who owns a tour X that i can try. I dont want to spend £400+ only to find that it bobs about in the wind at high speeds.
I use the bike for pleasure only but go around Europe once or twice a year so it needs to be right.
I really just looking for some good reports to put my mind at rest.
My biggest worry is that the helmet peak will try and rip my head off at speed or cause noise or cause buffeting.

Any advice will be useful.:thumb

Thanks,

Its not that bad at all. if you think it will, you can always remove it.
btw, bikers bargains website has got it listed much cheaper than £400 ;-)

definately not

I had mine two weeks. the peak vibrated so badly i couldnt think straight. There were lots of cures suggested like sticking lolly sticks the the peak or lowering the screen to its lowest setting. None worked. Removing the peak does stop all the noise and buffeting but i wanted it partly for its looks. and its looks stupid without the peak imo. Just sold it and bought an arai rx7 gp.
very expensive but very very comfy and high quality.
however you may find it ok

definitely yes

To T X 3 or to not T X 3 - another classic Tosser debate & I note someone has just asked the same question...

Did 10,000 with a TX2 before it was stolen :anger & got a TX3 to replace.

It works great for me, really comfortable, done 8,000 with it, pinlock works well but IMHO you need to get a breath deflector (www.racevisors.co.uk) - looks better & does its job. Fantastic venting so great in summer & a buff or equivalent is an effective "skirt" to stop your chin freezing in winter.

I'm 5'10" & ride a standard :augie 1200GS. Admittedly I do have the screen completely forward. Taller Tossers might have more of an issue with windblast :nenau

I'm not saying it's the best or the coolest helmet but it's in the top one... :thumb2

I had a Tour x2 which i thought was the 'Balls'.......

Until..

I replaced it recently with a Shoei Hornet which seems to suit me much better and is the proper 'Balls'!

I have both Arai Race R and Tour X2, Race R in colder weather or when I need to lock the helmet away in the Vario top box all day (race meetings etc).

Tour X2 when it warms up and for European tours as it is cooler, more vision, can ride with visor open all day if wish, cannot wear the foam ear plugs though due to drumming so wear my personal moulded ones made up and they are fine. Will 'just' fit in the top box but have to force lid down so don't like straining it to often but fits in the large pannier OK.

I've had the TX2 and now have the TX3.

Usual Arai quality, fits perfectly, 3 better than the 2 etc etc.

Wouldn't wear anything other than an Arai. :thumb2

I've got a Tour X 2...and I'm to believe the X3 has seen some improvements, stronger peak and better venting......

.....but I find my tour x brilliant, and have never suffered any excessive bufferting or 'wind catching' with the peak (maybe it's down to a combination of height and screen setting? :nenau)

I would highly recommend them....and secretly hanker after a tour x3 myself!!

I ride with a Shoei Hornet DS because I picked one up nearly new and for not very much on eBay. Brilliant helmet, comfortable, quiet and not the slightest problem up to 90mph with the peak and looking over my shoulder.

But I have also just bought a similar and nearly new Tour X-3 in LWD colours, again on eBay. I get it tomorrow and then will see which I prefer. The loser gets sold on this forum.

Although I ride a GSA, I am 6ft 3in so there should be some equivalence with a GS riding position (unless you are also 6ft 3in :augie)

I have a Tour x3 and the monster rx7 gp...

I usually wear the tour x3 with my twat jacket, when it rains- but with all this summer weather- I have been in a leather jacket with my monster helmet...

anyways...

This morning I went back to the wet gear, and this evening I have a stiff neck on the left hand side- I attribute this to the ferocious side winds on the M4- when I do my lifesaver- the tour x does have a habit of catching the wind and jerking my head.... I have had no problems with the gp helmet... now i'm thinking what the monster/twat combination will look like!!!

:)

Went from old Hornet to Tour X to new Hornet.

Hornet is much quieter, lighter and less vibey at speed.

I have the TourX Challenge, 2 years old been all over no probs. One advantage of the peak when the sun is not bright enough for shades or is in & out all day just tilt your head accordingley. No vibes as I keep it clean under the 2 screw clamps either side so muck doesn't wear it loose.
The TX3 looks proper mint though, mmm... yes please!

Got my Tour X3 a couple of weeks ago from Gericke in Farnborough, and I'm quite chuffed with it. Doesn't seem to vibrate more or less than any lid I've had, but the peak is one of those things that you just don't know how you've managed without for so long. On the downside, the included pinlock insert doesn't fit properly around the edges, fouls the upper seal when opening the visor, and gives more glare than my older (and admittedly useless) Fog City insert on another lid.

Overall I'm very pleased with the X3 and will probably get another one when this one goes its natural path...

Mup.

Got my Tour X 3 in September last year. Like you I was worried about it ripping my head off but never been an issue. It fits like a glove, smaller size than normal, looks great and picked it up for £270......bargain

Hello All!

I have an Arai tour X3 and I find it ok... the peek does cause some problems as at speeds you can really only look forward without having to battle the wind.

I have an F800GS, and I have just borrowed a R1200GS whilst the 800 is being serviced, needless to say I took it on the motorway last night, did some relatively high speeds and the helmet never cause me a problem.

I found the hornet ds to be the better helmet for me,and with the free wind skirt thing fitted its also much quieter, and kids think it looks like the dude off the halo game
