Just a quick question about the above helmet, cannot find any in stock locally to try on. Are they small built or large, from the forum i guess they are slightly smaller. Normally i am a 61 would i be better ordering the xxl or give the xl a try?

Second question my current helmet is pretty done so i do need a new helmet but going down to do the BMW offroad course. Is it stupid to use a brand new helmet or should i use my old one, do not know enough about the course to make a decision.

Cheers

X3

I love mine wear it everyday with a black visor. Had no probs with the size XL but that depends on your head shape. Three days to Alicante all weathers no leaks or bits falling off, easy visor change. Try the BMF next month.

I got Arai to check my head size at the Bike show - they recommended a slightly smaller size than I normally wear (57-58 / medium as opposed to 58/59 in Shoei lids) but the fit is very good. I'd be wary about buying without trying a full-face Arai of the same size.

The Arai guys told me that although there's some difference between the shells of the different model lids the Tour X sizing was pretty much consistent with their other full-face lids.

With regards to the off-road skills if the weather's decent you'll get very hot and sweaty so whatever you wear will need a good clean afterwards! I dropped the bike a few times but other than mud the lid I had on didn't suffer any obvious damage. Drops seem to be at very slow speed so you're not that likely to slide across the ground and whack your head on anything.

I`ve tried a Tour X 3 and it was a mile out re. fit than the previous Tour X for the same size (XL) Don`t know why that was but try before you buy :thumb2

Big Lee, I've got a huge bonce and the Arai XL, 61-62cm (picture below)fitted me like a glove before I sold it in favour of the Shoei Hornet DS, also an XL, 61-62.

Unless you are suffering from a serious case of Acromegaly  - er giantism in plain English, you really shouldn't need XXL. That said, head shape may be the deciding factor. For example, I have a big head and a long face (also ) so I needed thicker cheek pads in my Shoei to make a firm fit even though it was dandy around the skull. The Arai geve me no such problems.

I did hear later on that the XL had the possibility of having 2 shell sizes so maybe I had tried the smaller shell but the internal was still XL. It was a horrible fit :( Next time I`m in a shop I think I`ll try another one just to see :D
