Calling all Arai Tour x3 users....
Looking seriously at this helmet for a replacement, and would like to know what people really think of it....

Also can you take the visor off without taking the peak off? What is the lever system that is referenced on the web, but not explained?!

I'v trawled the web but can't find ny decent explanation of how the visor is removed.....

All replies gratefully recieved....polite ones anyway!

Peak removal is neccesary for a visor change on my Tour X.

Google for a picture of the visor & you'll see the mounting hole is complete, hence no quick release.

A friend has one and says that it is a pain to remove the visor. I think there are 4 or 6 screws and when putting it back together it is awkward to line up the peak, visor, screws and holes.
He is used to carrying 2 visors with him (clear and dark) and has given up wearing the helmet as frquently as he wanted to.

4 screws, 2 plates & 1 peak but very easy to remove/replace, imo. :thumb2

Have to say I love mine, I use both a clear and a dark tint with mine.

I have to remove the peak to change the visor. Seen references to the quick swap thing for the visor but I just don't see how it can work.

The peak is actually handy for blotting out sun glare when you need to (low Winter sun etc.), just tilt your head slightly - and shoulder checks on motorways are not actually all that bad, as the ventilation slots etc. work well.

The clear visors, when new, are absolutely crystal clear.

The lining is really comfortable. A lot of people compain about the noise when wearing them, but I have to say I find them OK in that respect.

Had this helmet for about 2 weeks and think its awesome - its quiet, comfortable and has excellent venting. The only concerns I had about getting one was I heard some riders experience severe buffeting behind a big screen, like on my GSA, but I've have ad no probs at all. Oh, and the peak is exceptionally usefull at blocking the sun with a slight tilt of the head.

I got one in black and looks bad ass!

It goes under the guise of XD3 in the north american market. Check out this link for a full review

easy enough to change visors, comfy, pain in the arse D link fastening,
very good at speed,( iv had mine at 165mph without the peak)
poor visibility when looking back compared to some, and useless without pinlock, ventings good,i dont find it noisy but i think the helmet as a whole is a tad dear,
only way is to try one, different heads, different bikes make a helmet good or bad to the wearer

i took it off and sprayed the helmet when i sold the gs , it was the only helmet i had that was good at such speeds,,,its matt black now, and ok on a road bike,

Hi
I went through all the helmets and found the aria to be heavy and the visor didn't go all the way up! Also disliked the way the visor and peak worked. But I am a Aria fan with other models.

Try the new Uvex range I bought the carbon fibre endure had some troubles but close to sorted now. The Uvex range below the carbon ones get great reviews and are very cool looking at reasonable prices.. Ask Matt at www.smartriders.co.uk he will show you all kinds of helmets.

Hope you get sorted

Big D :)

Thanks to all and keep 'em coming......
I'm concerned that the visor is not a quick change as I'm used to using pinlock inserts of varying shade......clear, tint and high contrast. Currently takes about 45 seconds to change including removing and refitting visor.
Off to NEC in November so perhaps it'll wait until then and I can try em all!

Im personally looking at the Uvex enduro ones but not carbon, they get great reviews and a steal at that cost, plus its my b'day soon. Not sure wether to go NEC or not though!

You might get it cheaper there as well. I picked up a brand new White Tour X3 for my daughter at the Scottish Motorcycle show at the Arai stand for £300. Thought I had got a bargain with mine after getting around 10% off at local dealers a week before. Arai had warned them not to discount, and then Arai discount by 20%.

Great helmets and I rarely even use the visor. The peak is great in sunshine.

Peoples opinions are so varied, one mans meat is another mans poison and all that ..

So for example, I have no problem with the D link, I don't find it a faff at all, but a visor change is (to me) a pain in the arse compared to say, a shoei, that takes about 20 seconds.

Strangely, and I don't know why, when I first got it, the peak vibrated like a flipping tuning fork and drove me nutts. I put it away and thought it was useless. Used it again a month or so later, changed the visor and absolutely no vibration from the peak what so ever. Strange :nenau.

Mine is Motard black, and I've got to say, I think it looks the business, esp with a black visor.

Interior is very comfy. As long as the vibrating peak doesn't rear its head again, I'd say its a cracking lid. :thumb

went into an x3 a few months ago, superb - am an arai fan but really nice helmet.

Changing visor yes a pain but keep it in and clean.

pinlock is essential (as i found out).

Peak great for low sun out of your eyes.

be careful doing life savers on the motorway though with that peak! its do able but make sure you keep your head pointing down unless you want your head ripped off (guess this is as much due to my height and ok with shorter riders).
