Just thinking if it’s worth the upgrade. My X4 is noisy, and apparently not such a good field of view as the X5.
Anyone had both and got any thoughts on comparisons?

For on road touring they are not a good helmet, I have had tourx3 and currently have a x4 but as you say noisy, I would get a road bias helmet unless you do a lot of lower speed and off road. They do look the part though 😃 but for for touring and distance work use a shark with a drop down inner visor and so much more convenient and much quieter too.

I bought the Tour x5 and it’s now been returned. The pinlock didn’t fit in the visor so I got a new visor and pinlock. The vent on the top of the helmet rattled an annoyingly so it went back for that. Then the cheek pad covers started to fall apart and the cheek pads wouldn’t sit right. I think these are issues that should have been sorted before being put on sale. I did own a Tour X4 for a lot of years before the 5 and the finish quality of the 4 was way better than the 5.
So I’m now looking for a replacement helmet again.

I’ve recently bought the TX5 and the difference in the field of view is vast, however, there is a little more pressure on the forehead but I’m expecting that to reduce with use. I think it is quieter than the TX4 but I guess that will depend on the bike and type of fairing/screen height.
I wasn’t looking to change but got one offered for half price, so couldn’t resist it.

I tried the TX5 on in a shop but thought the quality was not as good as my 4. The fit didn’t seem as nice either, so despite the lauded improvements I will stick with my 4 for the time being. Hopefully Arai will see such negative comments, take note and improve fit and finish.

Re. the fit, go to an Arai dealer offering custom fitting, if properly fitted issues with forehead pressure should not occur. They cost a small fortune so you may as well get it fitted correctly to your head.
