Hi All

Has anybody else had the problem of the TourX peak vibrating in the buffeting air behind the screen. Mine is that bad I can't wear it as I can't see properly and it gives me a head ache. Any solutions, apart for sell it.

Cheers Mark

I've tried lots and lots and lots of things.....

Possibly the two most effective things I did were to fit a Laminar Lip to the standard screen on my first GS and switch from solid foam earplugs to Alpine ones with filters in them which reduced the hammering noise in my ears.

Apart from that, I've made and fitted rubber gaskets that fit between the sides of peak and the shell, to damp down some of the vibration from the peak. On my original peak, I fitted a piece of screen edge trim along the leading edge and that helped to stiffen it. Most recently I fitted a Tour X 3 peak which didn't make any improvements and I've now stiffened that with thick jumbo sized paper clips bent into shape and stuck to the underside with the fuzzy parts of heavy duty Velcro. It's still not perfect but at least my eyeballs don't vibrate in resonance with the peak like they used to do.

However, by far the best thing I did was to buy a Shoei Hornet which fits me better than the Arai, is quieter and better ventilated. The peak on that does suffer from some vibration, even behind my current Z Technik screen but it's still considerably better than the modified Tour X.

My TourX did it today, last week I used a Schuberth S1 full face for a 1000 miles Irish sojourn and it was fine

It's the helmet, just ride below 60 and it's fine:D

No problems with mine at up to 120mph on the GS (GSA screen & winglets fitted), and rode the HP2 (naked, no screen) at speeds up to 100mph with no problems.:nenau I'm dead hard though:blagblah:D

I haven't had such a problem, had tour x for four or five years.

Yep, brand new toux4 and it wobbled like a good un.

Been a complaint by many since the very first one and they still haven't fixed it.

I've put dynamat under the peak (covered in black gaffa to black out the shiny surface) and a car door strip along the front edge, it's now pretty much vibration free:thumb

Just hold your head at a different angle, or try a different setting on the peak :thumb

Alternatively you need to experiment with screen height relative to your head (screen/bars/seat) :rob
