Ardennes 10 July - 13 July

Hi Lloyd,

Excellent :thumb2

I get some odd meals with my (even odder) French :D

I know the restaurant just by the hotel, I think. A large pizza etc. place?

The last time I was there, a month or so ago, there was a full on stag party at your girlfriend's bar.

Would like to have a look at your Verdun route, please.

Happy to have you along if you can make it etc. etc.

Richard,

Thats the place, we had all types of meals in there for 2 nights, top notch, nearly got the barmaid from next door to come one night, either that or i invited her to a plate of cheese, who knows :)

Ive emailed you the route, on a two day course at the mo so not back at work to check dates til monday, shouldnt be a problem as its only two days of work.

Rumour has it there are plenty of snorers on this trip

enjoy the cheese.

Lloyd I do believe that comment is almost slanderous, fancy accusing people of snoring! So did you want someone to share a room with you?

I suppose i can wear ear plugs and bring a peg for your hooter :D :thumb2

on my trip a few weeks ago we stayed in Ypres for two nights in a triple room and we made a guy sleep in the bathroom he snored so bad and i could still hear him :tears

I remember a diving trip with the 3rd Queens Regiment to Cyprus a week before the allies went into the first Gulf War where one of our divers was so loud that we lifted him and his bunk and out on to the parade ground! So have you booked your Chunnel yet? Richard is there any news on the hotel availability please?

Not booked yet Brian, just need to check with work but shouldnt be a problem to book holiday for the monday and Tuesday........shall we

I just looked on bookings.com and they have i twin room available.

Sounds good to me if you fancy doing the booking and I promise to try to keep the noise down. There are still places available on the chunnel too, feel free to give me a call tomorrow if you wish. Same mobile number.

Richard,

Beer was 3.40 euros a pint :thumb2 bar opposite to the right was open with my favorite barmaid, tried a few new bars ( dont drink mystic ) we got some funny drinks and meals without your french speaking, even got 3 full plates of cheese which we thought were chessy topped chips :augie (in our normal eating place )

new restaurant to the right, almost next to the above bar, really really nice food and very reasonably priced.

As per my previous post, i thought i didnt arrive back until the 10th July but my tickets just arrived today and im back on 3rd. depending on your numbers and work i may be able to come ( as long as worthing welsh doesnt drink ) :D

I even have a new route to look at if your interested from Bouillon to Verdun and back :thumb2

Now that your booked on, I think I can confirm I may have the odd beer or two.

Look forward to seeing you chaps again.:thumb2

David.

Of course this is Belgium so all the beers are odd....that's one of its appealing features!

Brian.

And while you`re in Bouilon, get some of the Bouillon Beer...I did and it`s rather good.....having recently returned from where you`re headed...as in my 'Wrong Way Round' Ride Report.
(I know,I know..shameless whoring and self plugging :D )

Have a good trip fellas. :thumb

I have been enjoying the "odd" cool glass of Mythos this last week whilst relaxing on the beach.

It was certainly the right beer for the time and place.

I must confess though that I did have the odd cocktail in the evening resplendant with sparkler and umbrella.:ChrisKelly

Im off to Majorca on saturday so i have got my spanish sorted ready.

dos San miguel por favor. The GF drinks vodka, im just greedy and gonna have two beers at once :thumb2

What's the ride on Sunday like? Does it go towards Calais or away from Calais?

Google maps says either 3 1/2 hours via A4 motorway to Calais or 6 hours via N43. Is that accurate?

Can't do working days so wonder if a Saturday and Sunday will be achievable??

Hi Tom,

mmnnnnnnn, im sure i once knew a Tom from Slough ( that sounds rude )

Anyway, depending on which of the three routes are chosen for the day, one goes away from calais to Luxembourg, one heads to Calais going to Givit and we have an untried route to Verdun which sort of stays level but its easy to convert to a route home.

Oh and the route home taking a mix of roads takes about 4 1/2 hours easy riding, could be done in an hour less if you up the pace

Hope that helps

Lloyd
