My bikes a 2022 f850 gs with only 400 miles on (just bought it) it’s not been serviced yet. Do you know if there restricted before 1st service and does it have to go to bmw ? Also I want to get abs pro mode, dynamic and enduro mode but I don’t how to enable them or if it will be done in first service . BMW dealer locally has no real answers

Hmmm
your dealer does not know what options can / cant be coded , on a model they service ??

Q why didnt you spec those options when you bought the bike ??

If you went to Syntner then I’m not surprised.
There’s plenty of us who have either a GS-911 or E-Sys and can code.
Yep Sytner and they didn’t sound like they had a clue im new to bmw bikes and thought maybe dynamic / enduro mode maybe not be available yet until first service . My plan was to service myself but if it needs software update I may have to go to the stealers

Pretty sure they won't programme any additional features unless you pay. As far as I'm aware, they need to be specified when purchasing the bike new.

Correct

i wanted hill hold added to my GS (it was a dealer retro fit) that was £140 just for software !

You could probably code all the options yourself with the ista software and a laptop. Pretty sure all the tutorials will be on the German BMW forum.

E-Sys is easier for that. iSTA + requires a specific cable that is almost unobtainable.
Most of it can also now be done with a GS-911.

Some of us have the right software available and not far from you, you’ll need to be a subscription member though for messaging.

Don't know about that. I have one for my 330 and it'll work on the bike too.

You can read with a standard cable but not program as BMW’s system doesn’t provide 12v on pin1 which their car OBD does so ISTA thinks the ignition isn’t on and won’t do updates or programming despite happily reading the bike and any faults, etc.
E-Sys doesn’t have that issue but you do need to know what the codes for each option are to tell the ecu what is installed on the chassis.

Thanks all sounds like bmw has it locked down not like older vehicles thanks again
