I've watched a lot of videos and read different articles about the police taking legally held firearms from people for the most flimsyest of reasons and now this video, they took this mans guns because his wife had terminal cancer.

If you think that’s bad you should try getting or renewing an “Air Weapons” Cert in Scotland, that is becoming more difficult each time.

Personally I think most of it is to reduce the workload on the Police who administer it, they are always behind. Any excuse to reduce the numbers and make life easier for them.

Or is it a deliberate policy to reduce the number of legally held firearms in the UK.

Low hanging fruit and the path of least resistance the new way forward police these days.

It's to make sure there's no chance of defence from the Gastarmo 🤣

Yes I've watched quite a few of them too, Devon and Cornwall's finest aren't too popular with their shooting fraternity after the Plymouth shootings, they're really trying to get the numbers down there. The one that got me was when that bloke got nicked, moved to Scotland got a new licence issued but still had a police charge to settle down south (Cambridgeshire), even the Police Scotland couldn't get hold of them.

That's hard to believe! Apparently anything is possible when it comes to law abiding citizens and firearms. Here's an example that's unbelievable as he didn't even have a firearm.

I dismissed it as surely this was made up but it appears that actually occurred.

increase costs, ban lead, add medicals which doctors don't want to sign, as it could confer liability, increase safety and security requirements, use guidance to replace laws...

while criminals do as they like...

the first rule of power, is stay in power....

the BASC now pretty much says if the police wants to sieze your legal held firearms force them into a revocation process. As it's a simpler process, as a voluntary surrender allows them a grey area in which they'll give the user the runabout...

the law is simple if no lawful reason exists the chief constable shall grant a certificate

the other problem is they now want to move section2 into section1 firearms

section 2 you don't have to give a reason why you want one, section 1 you need firstly a good reason, you can't just say well I just want one.... this will make shotgun shooting clays and game more complex to meet the requirements and get rid of the casual clay days... it could also change the rules around estate guns which can be used without the person (user having a license) as long as they are not prohibited people

my personal opinion they should just ban it all... and see what happens... or make it all legal and see what happens

I have just renewed my shotgun license and it is getting more difficult at every renewal. I have had shotguns legally for over 40 years and now only shot clays at my local club. Must admit I feel safer in my humble abode having the five stored in a locked/secure gun cabinet, if any low Iife breaks in then its a case of “go ahead, make my day’….( always make sure you never let go when they are running away. Always when they are facing you🤫)

i assume you have posted under your own name. you have just given the cops a reason to take away your guns. :(

When the old bill did their visit to inspect my “installation”, I told the officer if my family or property were threatened. They would be making friends with Mr Beretta….he told me I didn’t have the balls to let go at the intruder and “they” would grab it off me and use it on me……oh how I laughed.🤣🤣

before anyone gets too much of a hardon for skinning wrong'uns....

the logistics of that previous statement don't really line up.... but it's a good start...

look at the world in a different way would be my suggestion

Likelyhood of being in a `home invasion scenario...?
Likelyhood of being caught up in a active shooter scenario?

likeyhood of having enough going on upstairs to take immedaite and effective action...?

I always treat the police with respect, without them there's no paperwork...

About 10 years ago a friend of mine, who lives in a rural area, was in his kitchen cleaning his shotguns when 2 c*nts broke into his house, he chased them off with one of the guns and reported the break in to the police and told them what happened, in no time they arrived at his house and took his shotguns away from him.
Their reason was that the scumbags may return and steal the guns when the house is empty .

They cancelled his FAC.

Presuming you are able to and the "low life" intruders are not preventing you, how long does it take you to a) locate the keys, b) get the keys to the cabinet, c) unlock and locate the ammunition, d) load any weapon you have in there and e) bring it to bear on the situation ??

A cabinet is not only there to prevent your guns getting stolen, the time it takes to access them gives you more chance to change your mind if you were going to use them rashly.

My license would have been up for renewal next February. With my knees, my days of standing around in or tramping over wet ploughed fields whilst out shooting have gone, so the guns have been sold as the rigmarole of gun ownership these days in the UK makes it not worthwhile for me. My gun cabinet is now a very heavy and expensive valuables and filing cabinet.

They took mine away when i was getting divorced ! It was acrimonious i admit but up until the point that they took my shotguns and told me why it had not occurred to me to shoot her

we've got 5+ plus lots of kit in storage for the above reason, disputes with former wives, girlfriends, boyfriends... anonymous dob ins from as yet undisclosed sources... the grass line has been up and running for 20 years...

I doubt the real threat is opertunitistic small time villians... it's more likely folks you've pissed off along the way, that know a little bit about your hobbies and vices

the real world does not look like this

Yes, I take on board the time it would take to access the equipment and all the other comments! Guessing the 5 iron that sits under my bed would also be considered a bad choice…having recently had my XR900 stolen out of my locked and secure garage I suppose its now time to let the scumbags come and take anything and everything they want, why work when you can just walk onto somebodies property and take what you want….
The old bill know the location of my bike and the knobs that have it, its being shared about by 5 lads on an estate…so why haven’t I got it back? But to be honest I wouldn’t want it now it’s been ragged to death!
Basically there’s NO justice.🤔. My opinion is that if somebodies sneaking about on your property at the dead of night wearing dark clothes and a balaclava, you should be able to use reasonable means to deter them and show them the errors of their ways……

There was a video on youtube years ago were a guy in a English city had problems with scumbags trying to steal his bike from his yard, so one day they appeared to have another try at getting the bike when the guy spotted them from an upstairs window, next thing he started firing a paintball gun at them from close range from the bedroom window, the scumbags didn't hang about.

A good way to sort a problem (y)
