I'm not a lover of white helmets (ooer mrs), but do tour quite a bit in hot weather so how much cooler are they in hot conditions?

Common sense would say they must be cooler, but it's years since I've had one...

No noticable difference having worn one for years :thumb2

I'm making a guess, if your riding along and the thing ventilates... can't see there's much difference...

However if you like standing in the bright sun with all your clobber on the white one should be marginal cooler...

But all the jacket trousers, thermal liners, base layers and that stuff will cook you as sure as eggs is eggs...

They are uncool, it looks like you're trying to impersonate a police officer.

according to QI there is no difference, I make no comment but it was on the other night.

I can't imagine that you would be able to determine a difference in the thermal qualities of a helmet shell given the amount of foam they are packed with these days :nenau

I loved em !!

I saw them do a display on Whitley Links when I was a kid in the late 70's and loved em ! especially the jumping through a hoop of fire.
Made me want to join the Royal Signals just to become a dispatch rider in the army.

Absolutely ! :thumb2

Ventilation of your body will make WAY more difference.

I did read somewhere though that white helmets are involved in a significantly lower number of accidents than painted ones relative to how many of each type are sold.

From personal experience it does make a significant difference even through the lining.

I have never noticed this in UK but in a very hot place..

Yes. In my experience even when I leave my helmet out in the sun does not make it boiling hot.

Only issue, white helmets are a pain to keep clean.

They must be cooler -

White - reflects heat

Black - absorbs heat

(Although I did get a 'U' for Physics O level)

Whether they are 'cool' though, is another question entirely :blast

Yes, you are correct, but black also radiates heat far more effectively than white. Paint all your domestic radiators black and the house will warm up far more rapidly.
