If so, here's an extremely tempting opportunity. It doesn't sound like there's a huge amount wrong with it.. and the reward would be a really sexy bike with that glorious Morini V twin motor. £1500 or even lower!

It'd be way too much for me...I can imagine being £4k down, months down the line, spending a few hundred more to someone to get it right and then not actually enjoying it and flogging it for £7.25

The problem for me is time, I'm good at fixing things but I'm busy all the time.
Would love to buy a project bike, but i just know in all honesty it would just end up in the garage collecting dust and in the way for years.

Weren't they famous for idling (IACV) problems. Otherwise, coil sticks/plugs, fuel pressure/contamination, or just the good old & deeply infuriating Italian wiring syndrome - those who have been there will know the score.
It's a shame it's had someone messing around though, otherwise it might be an interesting project ......... if you like self-inflicted pain.
