Not really a problem if you're using it to replace an existing sat nav but for a new user, yes.

I'm sure a 2610 user will happily swop if your not happy, I would have just for the fact of how poor the reception is on the 2610, the Zumo you can use indoors the 2610 would play up if you were within 100yds of a building :augie theres a Wanted/For sale section that you can use :thumb2

All of the above are included with a Zumo.

I doubt if you will get a new Nuvi 550 for £210 now, as Garmin put up their prices a few weeks ago.

So with all of the above, the Zumo is not that much more, plus has many more features. Also, the is the Nuvi future proof? ie will there be any updates for it ?

I'm not knocking the Nuvi, just explaining my thought process to buy the Zumo :)

If I could have got one for less than £200 I might have done it, but in hindsight I'm glad I bought the Zumo.
 
Spoken street names are great in the UK, but have you heard her trying to pronounce Spanish street names! Worse than useless.

Living in a country with fjords, mountains, and tunnels I have to say I'm impressed with the navigation info the 660 provides - even for shorter periods with no sky view. The 2610 quickly lost track, and could use some time getting back on track:(
 
Battery charge

You may bring the unit into test mode by holding (for a few seconds) and then releasing the battery symbol. You will among a lot of things find the battery charge info. Not easily accessable, but it is there:comfort
 
Thanks for the kind offer of a swap guys ;-) but I hope and expect that it'll get better with future firmware upgrades...and the battery and better reception ARE significant, usable improvements.
Plus, Gaswoman likes the 3D view in the car. Typical.:)
 
Compared to Zumo 550?

Has anyone out there had experience with both the Zumo 550 and 660?

Just wandering which is regarded as best - it looks like the 660 is a much more recent model but, if anything it is cheaper to buy than the 550?

Be careful and do not get too excited about the 660. There are still hardware and software issues they need to clear up.
Hardware : Faulty mini USB connector at the back of the car mount
Software : Charging indicator on the battery
Software : rediculous 3.4MGB file you need to download off the web to update your brand new GPS that has just been released to the market 2 months ago!!
Not to mention the tediuos task of all those setups and updates to unlock your maps!!!

- My mini USB works fine for just the traffic receiver, as advertised.
- Not seen any problem with the charging indicator.
- The 3.4 GB download includes the PC Mapsource programe, plus the latest maps foc.
- Unlocking the maps is simple if you just write down the numbers when you register on-line, or so I'm told :thumb
 
Garmin seem to specialise in producing a myriad of clever devices but unable to being the best of these together in to one device, a well developed motorcycle Navigator.

I honestly doubt the current Zumo was designed by bikers :nenau if it was I’d get rid of them and ask the guys at the Zumo forum, here (and me).

I don't have a charging indicator on my Zumo 600? What does it look like?

This has been bugging me as I never know if its actually charging...
