are you happy with your 660?

The Zumo bluetooth is stereo :thumb2
The Autocom -pre 2009 model bluetooth is mono. :(

i.e. if you connect your Zumo to a old model autocom through the bluetooth connection only, you'll be listening to poor quality mono sound. At least now you can have instructions and music hard wired in stereo and phone only BT'd. The new Autocom's are bluetooth stereo.

And WHY can you not adjust the BT audio volume on the Zumo? :nenau

If you want poor audio quality in comparison to wired use the 660 to the Autocom (Logic1) over BT.

IME, stick to wired and forget about the 660/Autocom over BT for now.

Yes, I like it very much; even if the audio on my original one completely packed up. Garmin sent a new one a few days later with 2010 mapping pre-installed.

Annoying problem #1:

Sometimes, no particular pattern, the MP3 audio will mute completely, even though its still playing back, after a vocal directional prompt/info is played.

This means powering off/on. Thankfully this is easy on the 660.

All other things that bug me about the Zumo are Garmin specific not Zumo specific and I now find it impossible to go for a ride without any music. Using an iPod as the source would drive me nutz, as I'd have no control over the tracks. Also the 660 allows you to create playlists, I've not tinkered with it yet.

i use a Griffin Air Click to remotely control an ipod in my pocket. itunes does playlists, but obviously you have no display of what track is playing etc. it can be fun working it out sometimes.

not sure how much music you can get on a zumo, but i'm confident it's not enough when you're used to 60GB+ :)

It's worth using the Zumo bluetooth IMO, I've got mine running through an Intaride Evo and the sound is spot, basically theres a setting that allows music to be hardwired and phone to be bluetoothed so you have the best of both worlds, also the 660 takes SDHC cards so you can get quite alot on there, granted not 60GB but how far do you ride , Theres also the option of turning off voice commands and keeping music if thats what you want, just use the audio mixer. The reason I got the 660 was to do away with all the other stuff like MP3 players and phone leads. Works well but still waiting for a bluetooth update so I can use my new phone :(

Still works

Got myself one yesterday :) SW version 3.20
I have tried what you are suggesting but doesn't work, nothing appears ?

Sorry about late response, but been riding Iceland with the 660 and GPS kort 2009. Worked like a charm. Allthough the 660 SW 3.20 still shows some early bugs both with the Iceland maps and the latest download of the CN NT.

To your question: Press and hold the battery icon for about 5 sec, then release and the unit should show the extended info. (Anyhow still works on my Zumo 660 V7 4GB P1 S1 330MHz with SW ver 3.20 -and earlier sw versions).

Nedders, do you get volume issues with incoming call ring volume (very loud)? I do, and have stopped using BT until Garmin sort out their mess. I've hardwired my UE monitors (via a noise filter) and the quality is great, but it means using a cable, which I wanted to avoid, and is the main reason I bought ther 660.

Obviously, I can't pair the phone as I don't have a mic installed, and can't find one that's pre-wired with a 2.5mm jack for the Zumo.

No issues with phone volume, I have the Zumo audio output set to headphone though, so it uses the hardwired lead for music but the BT for mic input. I tried using BT only connection but volume was way too loud.

Changing displayed coordinate system

Did some walking in Cornwall last week. Had a map and a guide book but thought to take the Zumo along as well in case I got confused about any waypoints (not using it as a topographical mapping GPS).

Initially a bit p*ssed off trying to convert from OS grid to deg/min/sec until I noticed that you can set the "where am I" and "my location" screens to OS grid by going to the "where to" button => "co-ordinates" => "format". What you set seems to stay the default until reset.

I expect all this is probably in the manual or these forums, but it was not obvious to me, so I was VERY happy to discover how to change the displayed coordinate system so I could find out exactly how lost I was.

Cheers
