Damn und blast.

Yesterday's BMW Motorcycle Magazine isn't helping.

The number of incremental improvements is hurting.

No more E Torx bolts on the handlebar, normal Ts.

Flatter pilot's seat in the low position, especially in the 'pan' area.

General all over 'shaving' on the bodywork etc.

Clutch plates are easy to access.

Rear shock hugger.

Japanese gearbox.

Does having a wider front tyre help with the vagueness that the front sometimes has when the front tyre has done a few K miles and its winter (or summer in the Alps), wet, and in the 0s?

Does it have an OBD II type unit, locking out the GS911 units?

How much room is under the seat?

I want, but can't afford one, plus I bet the price of fully kitted GS is going to be at least the same as current GSA prices.

Yep looks good - also interesting that it is only single spark, increased compression ratio, no knock sensors AND runs on 95RON, this new engine looks good, I suspect that it will be a big improvement all round.

Aye, the drop to 95 is very welcome.

In 2015 when I might be able to afford one.

As for the whining on the exhaust note, it'll sound great with a helmet on, and hopefully near-silent with ear plugs :-)

I saw one in the flesh today and it looks fabulous.

I couldn't care about the 125 bhp but I think all that they have done will guarantee excellent sales.

For me the big if is whether the screen works well and first year reliability/ teething issues.

So I won't be the first in the queue but I shall watch progress with great interest. I'm certainly looking forward to test riding one in March.

Well seen it in the flesh and I for one will be in no rush to change,to be honest I would rather spent 10k on the sidecar unit that SBW are currently selling.

By the time I have the colour changed, get the seats sorted, fit rad guards , steering stop aand various bits and pieces, I think I would rather spend the money on the current bike.

The new bike is just not different enough, too much like all the other offerings on the Market, no quirkiness of the older BMW's Like it or hate it,when the 1200 was introduced it was completely different to the 1150. This one appears like an exercise in making more money for the likes of Touratech and fooling people into thinking they need the latest version.

But you can see where the oversize tank for an adventure will go, and for the luddies out there that stated the 1200 had too much plastic, this one is built of the stuff. Anyone hoping they would be able to carry forward existing seats, think again whole new mounting system. Both the side stand and centre seem to be an after thought and it will be interesting fitting a big foot there just doesn't,t appear to be the space for on.

On a positive note the new bike does have a narrower waist making life easier for us shorties.

Im with Yellow on this one. Not enough for me to change from my 2010 anniversary to warrant the 5K or so they will want as the luggage wont fit etc. etc. Looked good at the NEC but a lot of flat capped gents were mumbling the same.

I was just about leave the Bike show content with my little baby in the garage when i slipped up and went on the KTM stand and saw the new 1190 Adventure fully loaded. Oh boy what a looker and spec sheet

I cant get it out of my mind, perhaps a change is needed, had BM's for last 5 years or so. Perhaps its me but im def having a test ride on that brute.

Same here, had no plan to change the GSA, but the KTM looks super, booked a test drive also.

Normal sidecars are hard work. I had one for a while (not BMW). Does this one lean with the bike? Will the final drive bearings handle the side forces? It does look the part though. :)

I've been running my 1200's on 95RON for 70,000 odd miles. What am I missing here? :nenau

My 08 1200 feels like there is a cork up the exhaust on plain 95RON. It's definitely better on posh petrol. The knock sensor I guess advances the sparks.

My car runs better on posh and actually gets more miles per £ on posh than on vanilla 95. My '97 Diversion 900 is the same on all grades of petrol so no benefit running on posh.

Super definitely frees it up more.:thumb I'll only put BP or Shell in if I can help it, and that also tends to make a big difference. I'll never put supermarket petrol in, that's for sure.:rob

absolutely no discernible difference on either my 07 or 11 GSA.

none.

nada.

not a jot.

your mileage clearly varies :)

For the purposes of full disclosure I did try the expensive stuff a few times when I was riding large mileages daily.. For me..

..it made...

absolutely no discernible difference
:D

... Maybe its just how I ride :nenau :rob

P.S. New bike looks real purdy! :)

Remove the Cat and it will spin up so easily you believe the 'old' engine was strangled.

I was more surprised by how flat mine feels on normal petrol than how much better it feels on posh. Its also better at low speed on posh. I stalled it a couple of times on 95RON never came close to stalling on posh petrol. Overtakes are better too.
