Come into some money and decided to change my AGV K3 for a higher quality helmet.

For once in my life money is no object and I have decided to get either the Arai Tour or Shoei Hornet.

Tried them both on and they are a superb and comfortable fit. I can really see the difference in quality between them and my AGV.

The shop currently is doing 10% off either for me if I order a full suit too, and the Shoei is roughly £100 cheaper and has a free smoked screen and neck warmer.

I have the arai and think it is superbly comfortable once you get used to the weight of the thing and add some wheel balance weights to the peak to stop it resonating

Many say that it's a noisy helmet but I have had a system 6 and a Shoei tg air and this is far quieter but I guess it's what fits your noggin

I've got both and they are a slightly different fit from each other. I'd go back and try both on again to see if one is more comfortable for you than the other. However, I find the Hornet to be better built and finished and a bit quieter. Several people, including me have issues with the peak on the Tour-X vibrating at speed, resulting in a loud drumming sound. The Hornet is less prone to this by virtue of its smaller peak which is however a less effective sun shield.

You pays yer money and you become just another guinea pig..... :)

I've been using the Tour x since it first came out with no issues of the peak vibrating on any bike so am suprised some find it an issue, however it's fairly prone to wind noise.

Yes but I believe you're overly tall..... :augie

ha ha yes, but I ride half a dozen or more different bikes every week, with various screens or non at all :nenau ....... by comparison we should ask Dahoum who's underly short, in fact couldn't get on half my bikes without a ladder:D

whichever fits best, I wore a shoei thought the hornet would fit but no, cannot get comfortable in Arai's then I tried until I tried the X3, fits great..

Been wearing the Tour X for since they came out and had no issues until this year when I started doing Caithness to home in one hit and started suffering with the wind noise and the peak resonating. Took the peak off for the last run back and it helped but thinking of a new lid, probably back to a Quantum.

Have a '14 Tour X4 and I love it. The peak doesn't catch the wind too much and it's not overly noisy. Superbly comfortable and I feel very secure wearing it.

One problem I've had, which I'm told Arai are aware of, is the pinlock not having enough of a silicon seal to raise it from the visor properly, causing it to touch the visor quite a bit. Makes for lots of cool rainbow coloured areas, but not so good for clarity perhaps. I've had 3 different ones fitted by my dealer, and no change.

Apart from that. Superb bit of kit :)

Thanks for all the replies, I tried both helmets and decided on the Arai.

After a weekend of riding I am really happy with that choice.

I like both but prefare the aria lining. Holds up better. Happy new lid to you!
