It's that time of year again. So here's an idea ...

Take a ride on your bike. During the ride, take a pic of a war memorial and post it here. Some are in beautiful locations or have particularly striking sculpture etc. Here's my starter ...

Blythe Bridge, Scottish Borders. (En route to St Mary's Loch today.) Unusual for the amount of detail give for the casualties.

This is "1101" on the seafront at Seaham...

...known locally as "Tommy" and originally loaned to Seaham by the artist, he has been purchased by local subscription and a plinth to place the sculpture on has been commissioned so that he will be a permanent fixture beside the war memorial on the green.

I took these last Saturday.

I think it's a stunning piece...

Great idea :thumb2

I often stop to admire war memorials whilst on my travels, but never taken any photos. The one at my local church is in a nice setting, maybe I'll ride/walk over there tomorrow. I'll be missing yet another armistice day parade this year due to being at work, shame really as I was wanting to take my 8yr old son for his first time.

Walked the dogs unto my local church & memorial this morning

This one is likely to be in Brecon as there used to be a museum there in honour of the 21st/24th Foot, but not 100%. Is it possible we can say where these monument are please.

I think it a great idea and will set up a personal folder to record where they are in France where I live.
