Hi Arsey I'm just back from RDGA + Route Napoleon yesterday
agree definately stunning scenery + worth doing:thumb
it must have been after last Thur 11th Sept when that pic was taken at Col de I'Iseran?
as I was up there at lunchtime, stopped for a couple of pics it was bone dry but 5 mins later there was the worst blizzard Iv ever had the pleasure :rolleyes:to ride a bike in
got the lids back on and scampered
fecking hairy enough riding those passes in the dry never mind in a snow storm
glad we didnt hang about after seeing your pic
but a really worthwhile trip
my view would be
RDGA route for stunning scenery
Route Napoleon for checking the bike has more than 3 gears if you know what i mean:D:D
cheers :beer::thumb

I'll post a load more pics and sort out GPS tracks etc in next few days.I'm about to nip off to Chicago so should have some time there tomorrow to post some more stuff. But agree with above that the Rdga is stunning for scenery/hairpins but the Route Napoleon is utterly mind blowing to ride in it's entirety.Would like to go back on the Ducati but shame it's 600 miles from St Malo !
Very tempted though.

(typing on this bloody iPhone takes ages)

Nice pics and that one that's now on our front page is simply stunning :thumb2

Looks stunning and quality pictures. :thumb2

Not sure if I am worthy of a copy of the GPS log but would be nice as I was planning a trip down Route Napoleon next year but never realised you could do the Grande Alpes together.

Cheers

Adie

We got up Col d'Iseran on 14 Sept.

were those pics taken with the sony A300 ?

Close.

A200.

Day 1

So,now a few more pics, details of the trip.

There were just the 2 of us,as the usual gang of four was depleted
somewhat-DCMS had other things to attend to (:augie) and Chasr of this
parish was still trying to get the hang of a piddly little French
aeroplane and couldn't get the time off.

So Richard aka Polski PGS and I met up in Orleans and after a very late night, headed
off to the start of the Route Des Grandes Alpes at Thonon-Les-Bain near
Geneva and on the shores of Lac Leman :

The weather was a bit damp but we pottered up to Morzine for the first
overnight on the route itself :

Day 2

The next morning dawned still rather murky and we hit the first Col in
the mist, where we met Herr Flick and his side kick :

The visiblity didn't get much better on the mountain tops, but we continued on to Lac de Roseland :

where we had lunch,opposite :

After that we pottered on and eventually got up to the top of Col D'Iseran.

Conditions were awful, with temps of -4 and freezing fog and ice on the road/hairpins.

But the view at the top was stunning :

Well,I think it would have been if we could have seen further than 10 feet !!

A good few more miles were knocked out before we decided on an overnight stop and more vino here in Valloire :
