I screwed up. My son is doing a law school exchange program at University College Dublin from September through December this year. I misread the information pertaining to getting him on the on-campus residence list and now it's too late. He has no place to live during the fall semester.

Does anyone know someone with a room to let in Dublin, near UCD, from September 2 through December 30? My son is a 29 year old 2nd year law student who will spend most of his time at the school. I'll be paying the room cost up front so no worries there. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bill.

Don't panic. You will have no problem getting a room. The economy is in the can and plenty of people with a large mortgage will welcome the cash. I'm in Spain at the moment but will keep an eye on this thread for you.

Cant help with the specific problem right now / but may be able to later this week. Will reply here IF this works out.

But, i'm 'local' - so if i can assist in any other way - just ask. :thumb2

I suppose it does look a bit odd for a first post and the "Con" in the username, but legit all the same, he's on Adv Rider since '07 ... :thumb2

Hope ya get sorted Bill.

Thanks for the reference Daithi, it was suggested on ADVRider that I post to this forum also. Although I've traveled in the UK many times, even got to ride in Scotland once, I've never needed to ask for help/ideas before...

That being said, if anyone here needs assistance in Southern California, I'll be happy to help if I can.

Just joined, first post, am I the only one who is suspicious?
Even the first part of the user name.....??????

electric_monk, totally understandable question. I was the assistant head master of a prison school here in the states for many years. Before that I taught General Educational Development and Vocational Training courses for inmates (Cons), hence; ConTeacher.

Thanks, Ogmios. I appreciate any offers for assistance!

Don't know if it operates on the Emerald Isle, but spareroom.com may have some options

I think it's down to timing. The regular staff are on summer holiday. And, it really is my fault that I missed the beginning of international student sign-ups.

What age did you say your son is? :D

I know...

In his defense, he's working 50+ hours a week at an unpaid law internship and another 15-20 tending bar nights & weekends to make ends meet. I told him when he got accepted for the exchange program that I'd handle transportation & housing...

The bright side is that it looks like accommodations are going to work out even better for him thanks to this forum :thumb

There ought to be a law against that :D

(Ok, coats on :rob )

Not only is he working for free; his position is as an advocate for individuals who owe money to the California state franchise tax authority. The system of appeals is so complex that without specialist legal training it's pretty much impossible to navigate. :blast Welcome to the Peoples Republic of California
