ast jackets

Hi Folks,
just refreshing this....anyone any experience with these?

Thanks

bit LOUD for me cascat.... I prefer black... and currently have a Halvarssons jacket www.jofama.se ..... mines the Korax...and ace for the cash IMHO
(They also do loud )

Got the HG Daylite jacket, which is similar with the reflective strips too.

They're great looking when new but soon start to look very grubby.

Even using the Nikwax stuff, they don't clean up very well.

Like the Halvarsson range very much.

Dealers

Are there any shops that import the AST in the UK, I have emailed Olympia but had no reply. :rob

Sizing

How did you go about sizing the jacket? are they sized the same as the UK, from their chart I would choose a XL being 6'3" and 16 stone. :eek

Sizing

Well I'm 5'10, 11st wet thru and when I spoke to them I asked whether I should allow room for a sweatshirt/jumper in winter. They reckoned the 'inner jacket' should normally be sufficient. So..I ordered a medium and it arrives tomorrow, so I'll let you know. :)

what was the total cost of jacket + p&p in £'s :thumb

Price?

Total price was about £172 incl USPS Air Parcel Post, but, and there's always a B****y but, was I got a letter this morning asking for customs duty of £48! so not as much of a bargain as first thought.

Hopefully I'll be as pleased as punch with it and will post some more after trying it.

Well I've had the jacket a month now and very impressed. Very bright :clap people DO definatly see you earlier which is good for the coming dark mornings and evenings. :)
Fit is excellent, the outer pocket zips are rubberised so the pockets are waterproof. The vents for summer are also rubberised zips so at the moment it 'seems' to be fully waterproof. Been thru some wet weather but nothing extreme yet but I have had the inner jacket on a couple of times and that was effective. It's a good inner jacket which you can use separatly if you want. It is also waterproof/windproof.
The collar is quite roomy and comfortable. I usually wear a neck muffler or similar in winter so shouldn't be drafty, and i think in winter you'd probably be alright with t-shirt just using the inner jacker as well in all but really cold weather. Although you could get a sweatshirt on under the inner jacket in you wanted.

It is good quality Courdura on the outside which I think will stand up to several years abuse and hopefully remain waterproof thoughout. It is the outer material which is waterproof so in heavy rain you don't end up with a heavy wet dripping jacket when you get to work which takes all day to dry out :(

So....all in all, a bit pricey but, a very good quality jacket which so far I'm very happy with. :beerjug:

The Cat's Ass

I've had the dayglo AST and Ranger pants now for a month. It is very toasty down to 40 degrees F, and then very comfy as low as 25 F. Liners come out when it hits the upper 40's. Totally waterproof and windproof. Breathable.
Pants are the best I've had.

All much MUCH better than my fieldsheer hydrtour and booster pants, which I returned.

I am 5'11 and 190 lbs. 32" inseam. 33" sleeve. Waist 34. Medium jacket was too tight. Large fits well with enough length in the sleeve. Pants are 36 as I wanted them mostly as overpants. Spot on. Without the liner they are about a half size loose ... not a problem. Jacket tends to pouch up a bit in the chest with the liner out but still very comfortable. For reference, I take an XL in Fieldsheer and Alpinestars.
