I live near the scene of the above ,discussed , attempted theft . Three years ago I witnessed two ninjas , pushing a third ninja , using right foot from their motorcycle; Classical technique . Maybe even the same gang .
I followed them , whilst live reporting their position to the police . All three were arrested , in possession of the stolen motorcycle .RESULT
A month later , WPC telephoned me ,” Would you be willing to appear in court as a witness sir ?”
“Will you keep my identity secret?”
“We cannot offer that sir , so your name will be revealed in court proceedings “
I’m sure you know my response .
In any case .. caught ‘red handed’ . No idea if successfully prosecuted .
When you give a statement your personal details are always on the rear of the statement form and you always start the statement with my name is ............... and I reside at the address listed overleaf or in the case of police officers I work at the address overleaf.

The defence are NEVER supposed to get near original statements so the slimy vultures (whether they be solicitors or barristers ) cannot find out witnesses home address and telephone numbers and pass them on to their clients , I caught a CPS prosecutor at court prior to a case starting and he was about to let the defence look at the original statements .

Intervened and pointed out if he handed over an original I would be getting both his and my bosses and the law society involved in the matter . CPS solicitor later claimed he did not know that he shouldn't reveal witness details to the defence (f*cking utter plum)

Unfortunately you never get any type of anonymity regarding your name in any cases unless they are related to national security, major cases with a threat to witnesses or vulnerable persons .

Would giving a false name and address collapse a trial by any chance ? or are there ways for stopping at a mates to help you out.

Presumably the reason that witnesses refuse to testify is precisely because there is a threat (real or perceived) to their safety & wellbeing.

Given the ubiquity (real or perceived) of scrotes and their misdeeds, there is potentially a need for this to be addressed.

Perhaps worthy of a note to your MP.

Whether anything will come of it is an interesting question, but it’s sure nothing will if nobody asks.

Local to us a teenager was killed a couple of days ago after the three up stolen motorcycle he was riding hit a bus stop , other two were injured .
Oh dear, how sad, never mind... Don't you just love karma.

Feel very sorry for the guy just sent down for murder who chased a guy who had stolen his sons bike in his car and knocked him off killing him. My opinion is there should have been no charge at all...

If the scumbag hadn't stolen it, he wouldn't have been chased and he wouldn't have been knocked off and he wouldn't have died.

Death to thieves. Agonising if possible.

Pain, anguish, and time to regret.

We have the absolute worst thieves in the UK. Not stealing out of necessity, just purely to be bad gangsta wannabe types.

Horrid little cowardly cnuts.

Agreed, but whilst the bleeding heart liberal arseholes have any say, just punishment is a 2 week canoeing course in wales to make them realise life can be good.

They won’t because they are fucking pond life.

Their parents are pond life

Their friends are pond life.

Violence is the only thing these cnuts understand

Just allowing them to procreate massively weakens the gene pool though.

Better put to use as mulch.

Similar tale, an anaesthetist my wife works with came to the aid of a young crashed motorcyclist in the road outside his house, kid was probably only about 17 or so.
Used his own personal defib unit and kept the kid alive, helped the ambulance crew intubate him on attending and then get him to hospital.

Kid later died due to the extent of his internal injuries, turned out he was riding a stolen motorcycle.

Local paper made the kid out to be a likeable chap and future pillar of society (aren't they all ?)
I remember years ago in Cheltenham (probably 1980's) a very prolific 15 year old TWOC'er wrapped some poor chaps Astra around a tree, but managed to kill himself.
Shame really because he was halfway through a Crown Court trial for TWOC...........
His headmaster was quoted in the local press "He was a 'lively pupil', who found cars fascinating, but had never actually owned one......, :rob
