When you give a statement your personal details are always on the rear of the statement form and you always start the statement with my name is ............... and I reside at the address listed overleaf or in the case of police officers I work at the address overleaf.I live near the scene of the above ,discussed , attempted theft . Three years ago I witnessed two ninjas , pushing a third ninja , using right foot from their motorcycle; Classical technique . Maybe even the same gang .
I followed them , whilst live reporting their position to the police . All three were arrested , in possession of the stolen motorcycle .RESULT
A month later , WPC telephoned me ,” Would you be willing to appear in court as a witness sir ?”
“Will you keep my identity secret?”
“We cannot offer that sir , so your name will be revealed in court proceedings “
I’m sure you know my response .
In any case .. caught ‘red handed’ . No idea if successfully prosecuted .
The defence are NEVER supposed to get near original statements so the slimy vultures (whether they be solicitors or barristers ) cannot find out witnesses home address and telephone numbers and pass them on to their clients , I caught a CPS prosecutor at court prior to a case starting and he was about to let the defence look at the original statements .
Intervened and pointed out if he handed over an original I would be getting both his and my bosses and the law society involved in the matter . CPS solicitor later claimed he did not know that he shouldn't reveal witness details to the defence (f*cking utter plum)
Unfortunately you never get any type of anonymity regarding your name in any cases unless they are related to national security, major cases with a threat to witnesses or vulnerable persons .
