Hey GSers,

I have been away for a while and this morning I wanted to get out and use the bike for the first time in months, only to find out that someone tried to steal it by bypassing the ignition switch. I understand it cannot work as the key is needed, so they did not push further and left it as is. It is a 2007 GS.

Now I am finding this cable like this:

And I am wondering of to fix it. I have the plastic fitting piece, and I noticed that the little arms within the ignition lock have been bent a little also.

I believe all that is "easily" fixable, just wondering if anyone here has had the same situation before, and if there is a guide somewhere about which cable goes where and ho to properly put them back into the plastic bracket.

Any help much appreciated...!!

Peace! (but not for the thieves...)

You need a repair plug & wiring diagram

Repair plug is - I believe 02 Repair plug, 4-pin 83300402337

you may need the tiny molex connectors too

Can you give me a close up of the wires and colours and i can see if i can pull them from the haynes manuel

having a quick look shows the ignition switch to be two wires

it may be they've pulled the ring antenna wiring off lol

Yup ring antenna is four wires - pin4 Blue / White Pin 3 Yellow Pin 2 Yellow / Black Pin 1 Green / Brown ( the yellow & yellow black need to be kept as a twisted pair)

I cant tell what colours you have from the pics, so i could be yellow brown ;)
if its more or less wires just shout out how many and what colours

Do a search on here for broken wire / ring antenna there are several posts that may help

Thank you Santa!

I will get the pictures in the afternoon, and will do the search you suggest. Hopefully it's nothing too bad...

It's a bummer the alarm switches off after a few days; is it really that hard on the main battery? Is there a way to keep it active for longer, like a few weeks or so?

Cheers!

Hello,

I have taken a few pictures of the cables and the antenna. Not sure they tried to remove it, they simply tried to bypass it.

How dumb is that?? All the bikes from 2000's onwards have a RF antenna, even my old Yam' had one!

Here it goes:

<a href="https://ibb.co/3dcc4Vr"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/JtHHm8B/IMG-2266.jpg" alt="IMG-2266" border="0"></a>

Thank you!

Yes it's the ring antenna,

Wiring as per the description earlier

Your alarm will only stay armed for 7-10 days to prevent it from flattening the battery

Thank you again Santa for the quick response!

When looking at the plug I can see the four wholes, but which one is n.1, is it the one on the left when looking at it this way:
