Thanks for all the advice, chaps.

Test rode an A2, the new Polo and the Fabia. A2 too small, Polo overpriced (and our experience of the local VW dealership has been poor)... but to be honest the Fabia blew both into the weeds by virtue of its price, performance, build quality and equipment levels. FIVE GRAND less than a new A2!

Well happy, don't give a toss about the old anti-Skoda bias, those days have gone!

By spooky coincidence I've just been driven around most of this morning in a colleagues Skoda Fabia vRS. It is seriously impressive; goes like a rocket - but smoothly, loads of kit in it & build quality that puts many other manufactures to shame.
I wouldn't mind one..................

Have u thought about a merc a class A170? we used to have one and it was a super thing, take all the seats out and fill it full of stuff... 50+ mpg and held its value well. They are about the same size as an a2

I did actually schnauzer, but we walked into the local merc showroom and were ignored for 20 minutes. Bloody useless salesmen sat around gossiping, so we left.

Retroman - Good to see like-minded souls on Skodas.

Welcome to the Other Dark Side !

Surprise people with the cars abilities and save lots of money which means you can now spend more on your GS

BTW I've found Skoda aftersales & service excellent making a pleasant change from the normal Car Main Dealer Mediocrity Syndrome which afflicts most of its rivals

Enjoy

Fabia 1.4TDi Comfort

Colletced the car today, lovely bit of kit. And I hate cars, as a rule.

Well pleased.

:D
