Did anybody do it this year - sorry if there is a report of it somewhere but I can't seem to find one.

One way or another I intend doing it next year.

Idealy I fancy doing it on the GS, two up, as part of a longer holiday down there. Hopefully with another liked minded couple on their GSA.

What's the terrain/riding like - will it be a pleasant 'bimble' two up on a GS or is it a bit more challanging than that?

Would my mate and I be better off doing it one up on our DRZ's and sod the idea of an extended holliday with the GS's?

Any thoughts gratefully received :beerjug:

The GS should be fine by the looks of it.

The "Two Ians" Ian Chappel;R 1200 GSA, and Iain Woolley;Africa Twin had never even met before the event, and live a hundred miles apart. They were teamed up by the organisers, and proved a killer combination - one Ian planned the route for the East half of the map, the other for the west half, and swapped navigation duties on the second day.

Coming in two and a half hours early (!) on Sunday, with Ian on a flat rear tire for the last ten miles, they were asked by Susan if they had a problem, "No, we've done it."
"What do you mean?" questioned Susan.
"We got them all, every point," said Iain.

And so they had - they hit every checkpoint, which layout man Austin Vince swore before the event was impossible - and came in early for a beer at the bar to show their absolute domination of the event. They also proved the lie in Austin's words that a "proper trailbike" was the best way to ride the event, both riding big bikes to crush the opposition under their wheels.

there's a thread here some place someone did it on a 1200, meant to ask hows yer leg coming along...?

well that's good news, the HUMM thing does look a laugh...

Sounds great..

It sounds like a great fun time was had.. I really fancy having ago at this next year.. i think the gs would like a trip down there that time of year..

I don't think the dates have been finalised yet for 2008 but I'd guess it will be around the same time (end of August)

I would like to team up with someone for the off road course. I'm a good navigator which may be of use!

If anyone's looking to break the trip down I can probably offer some accommodation here and if anyone is up for a couple of days trail riding around here (north Dordogne) either on the outward or return trip just let me know.

Looking to do this next year on a pogo that I hope to acquire, would also like to stay a little longer and do some other trails etc. Trouble is I have no means of getting the bike there or experience of driving on the continent:mmmm So if anybody wanted to share costs and lead me a-stray I could be up for it!

I'd do it but it might clash with another event I'm in can put 4 bikes into the motor...

humm 2008

I've entered.

As part of a tour with my wife on the gs, I've entered the 2day off-road option. I'm supposed to be riding it with my mate Frank (team fud) whilst my wife suns by the pool. However, with supermoto tyres on this may be a bit ambitious. I may end up just doing the road option instead. Boat tickets are bought and entry fee + hotel paid too. See youse there.:)
