At Squires cafe, 8/10/11 sat night, £6 per ticket.

:beerjug: Dave.

Check what he's talking about first - his recent lecture at Appletreewick was dire; a two hour presentation on old infomercials from the 1930's onwards, not adventure motorcycling as intimated by the Grassington Festival website  Unless you're interested in old infomercials of course....

Imagine someone doing the same tired old presentation time after time.

With Austin you can see him a number of times and get a different show each time. :thumb Open your mind.

I'm very open minded, but his show at Appletreewick was, quite frankly, sh*te and most of the audience were of the same opinion.

The organisor was so embarrassed, he even phone everyone personally afterwards and offered free tickets for an adverture motorcycling filmshow at Appletreewick a few weeks later.

Spotted that yesterday too. I'll be going because even though I saw him recently at Horizons', I thought he was funny and forthright.
I would imagine, giving a talk at a biker venue is fairly guaranteed of a bike oriented topic. Else he'll be lynched!

No tickets are being sold at Squires for this event.
I asked Jason yesterday and he said buy them at the door on the night.

Wise move by Squires on that score then.

Ive seen this guy twice.

First time - brilliant, hilarious.

Second time - absolutely crap. Disappointed, as I'd taken 3 others along expecting similar quality to the first occasion.

There are elements of both from Steppers point of view which I agree with Austin never fails to entertain, however from a polarised perspective of someone who wants to see a talk about of motorcycles etc. well then AV's off the wall nature can be abit too far from the subject.

However at least he writes a presentation and when we helped with the Ted Simon thing... he just gave us a self extracting CD which played for 45mins (dull) and then he answered questions in a dull and life less fashion. The again he make Yoda look like a young man and he must have talked that trip to death by now.

We've also done the the CB presentation a few times and to be honest the first time was average, the subsequent times where an exact replica of the previous event. Just duller as we knew the punchlines funny the audience was much the same and they still loved it...:blast Says more about the viewing millions I guess....:augie

Anyway it's made me think time reduces the impact and entertainment value of the piece being delivered, however people want school dinners and not impromptu meals....

Interesting, I've heard Autin several times and always found him highly amusing even when his talks are absolutely nothing to do with bikes.

I see that Sven's signature line is "Steve 2009 R1200GS with all the toys". I know Austin rips the piss out of the "R1200GS with all the toys" and often includes a slide of one and refers to it as the Moto Dildo :D. Possibly he is on a different wavelength to that sort of audience?

Maybe to a certain extent, but we were sitting through tedious 20 minute informercials and the whole audience was becoming restless and many (including myself) left before the end - we weren't all on GS's either ;)

I thought he was an interesting guy up to the point he started showing the films

NEW DATE - SEPT 17TH

At Squires cafe, 8/10/11 sat night, £6 per ticket.
:beerjug: Dave.

Dropped into Squires this evening and was just pointing out the poster to a friend when I noticed the date has changed! Confirmed with Jason - he said the organisers (not squires) had double-booked.

Yeh im going, As long as nowt else crops up during the day.

Pompous, egotistical, misogynistic, homophobic, xeonophobic racist twat.

I can understand why he appeals to so many here :)

:beerjug:

immensely funny if on form, witty and sharp as fuck though, i'll give him that

Well I hate to break the news to you 1200GS riders but adventure motorcycling has been done to death in every way shape and form. You can only tell a story so many times before it becomes eye wateringly mind numbing. Nobody gives a f*ck if you've been to outer ring road of Slough but for those that remember Austins heyday here is something to keep you entertained :beerjug:

I really enjoyed last night.
At first, I didn't see what the topless dancing girls had to do with biking but the male stripper was a bonus.... :thumb

I've seen him 3 times over 5-6 years and last night in a non GS audience (majority of the crowd) he was brilliant

The Steel Stallions were also fab
