:oonyack, The martch to the finishline is on. Just dropped $2000AUD on riding gear (some was for my brother). Planning on spending another ~1000 on crash bars etc, this wk.

Deleivery is at the end of OCT/ start NOV. I am anticipating a call from the dealler to confirm the specific date in a week or two. I can't believe that i am so close. I started looking for this specific bike just before they confirmed it's release. A full year wait and now i am almost there.

Was thinking, who in Melb wants to take their bike for collective cruise when we get them?:beerjug:

I've heard 15 October....

Dealership in receivership (Australia)

Went into my dealer yesterday. Stood around the showroom for a few minutes. "wonder where the sales guys are?" walker over to the office and asked where they where, he responded
"Harold and Keith no longer work here." I was thinking, WTF. He followed
"We are under receivership at the moment"

Well doesn't this bite the big one. Went and spoke to a more senior person and found out the trading will be ceased trading and will be closing doors within 2 weeks. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, my bike will be delivered to another dealer for pick up.

I have had a week that has been so erratic and this adds to it. 5 big stress events in 1 week. But life would be boring otherwise, right?

Here is another interesting thing.... I was told by the dealer in Sydney that it is unlikely that BMW will be selling helmets in Australia next year. Apparently they are having trouble meeting our safety standards (AS) which are apparently higher than the DOT standards????

They've arrived, but not mine....

Hey Mate,

My dealer just got his first customer bike in. Despite assurances that I would be in the first lot, I've now been told November. Not happy....

Well that is good and bad news. Note the wording, 'first lot/batch'.

the only way that i found out the dealer was in receivership was to walk through their door. I have not heard anything form BMW HQ or the other BMW dealer in town. I guess that i should start being really proactive!!! :handbag
If proactive does not work, escalate. :mcgun

Anyone in Australia heard anything more about delivery dates? Still nothing firm from my dealer.

mal

I was supposed to get mine late September... Got back from holiday trip on October 5th just to find out we had been bumped to late October

Can't wait much longer... Already got the gear and the accesories (Handguards, Vario top case with cylinder kit & pads):clap

got mine already.

deposit paid in September 08 picked up on the weekend. Already got her nice and dirty. need bashplate desperately. Frasers in sydney only opened as a new BM dealership last week and i got lucky.:oonyack

I wish to rant in the negative

F F F F F F...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As you guys may or may not have read, the dealer who i ordered my 800gs went into receivership 1 mth before delivery. Now no longer trading.

I called BMW HQ today and got a quick call back, ALL negative.

1. your deposit of $1000aud is with the dealer/receivers so you will have to contact them regarding that.

Second, to order for the bike was never placed correctly therefore it was never accepted by bmw HQ. So that means that i have to re-enter the que. I have had my eye on this bike for 12mth and an order in for 5mth.

I AM SO PISSED OF RIGHT NOW. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO. i NEVER WANT TO TOUCH A NOTHER BMW IN MY LIFE. FFFFFF.

How could BMW allow a dealer to continue to trade under a BMW licence if they were not acting (filling out paper work) properly. And this order was meant to be sent in June. that is almost 5mth of trading BMW HQ new about.

Now i guess that i contact the ACCC, the govt body that helps people in my position with legal matters like this.

Ah bollox, I saw your post about the dealer going into receivership and I was wondering what had happened. That's a rough deal, and sounds more like theft than incompetence - they obviously used your money to help their cash flow and hung you out to dry.

Did you pay your deposit by credit card? If you did, you might be able to claim the money back from the card company.

I feel your pain, I put GBP4500 (Debit card) down on a new 990S KTM Adventure two years ago and the same happened to me, bike had never been ordered, the dealership even rang me for the remainder of the money a couple of days before they went into receivership.

The receivers then came in and apparently took whatever cash was left over as 'fees' and now it is under investigation. So two years later I still have not received any monies.

I just hope it works out for you and you get the bike you really want and your deposit back. :(

that is a bummer mate...sorry for your troubles. i'd go and buy a KTM 990 Adv. I've got an 800GS and think it's great, but also think these look like the dogs giblets...

As said already...hopefully you paid the 1000 AUS dollars on your credit card...if so you should be OK.

I looked at a KTM 990 today and i much prefer the looks of the GS 800.
