Australia, get ready. The 800's are coming

I cant believe this. Only a couple of days before your post at the start of this thread I was in that dealership with Keith asking me to put a deposit down on the bike. He was super nice, like nothing was going to happen (perhaps he didnt know what was coming?). Then to read your post, and now this?! Moto One had a really good reputation as well, which was why I wanted to deal through them. I guess I was just lucky that the offer on the trade in wasnt enough for me to put my deposit down, otherwise I would be in the same situation as you. Good luck with the battle mate, I really hope you can get your deposit back as a minimum.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Snowlife. You seemed so excited about getting your new bike.

I hope you get it sorted out quickly

Mate,

Really sorry to hear about this, I have to say my (first) experience with BMW has not gone well either. Numerous other people - 'behind me' in the list are now receving their bikes yet there is 'no word' on mine. It's not really amusing to hear people who put their deposits down six months after you already in receipt of their bikes.

I am not far away from reconsidering myself. My only issue is that I have $1000's worth of parts for the F800GS and no bike. If I have to lose money then so be it. I'll also make sure I name and shame the dealer on every forum I can.

Hang in there, hopefully BMW will see the error of their way and look after you.

Frustrating

I can't even begin to imagine how high my blood pressure would be. You are taking it better than I would for sure.

The next step, watch this space!

I can't even begin to imagine how high my blood pressure would be. You are taking it better than I would for sure.

Not to be negative, i am much younger that much of most members of this forum, and buyers of bmw'S, MID 20's. So high blood pressure, yes I have it but it should not cause a heart attack.
But there is news since.

I have recently receiver a letter from the dealer saying that the order is processed and that the bike will be delivered to the nearest store ASAP. (This is considering that the dealer is bust and in receivership.)

If this situation should not turn out positive I will peruse it legally against BMW HQ Australia. CAN you imagine, "Young man takes on BMW and wins." in the news, I can.
By the way, I have been trained in contract law within Australia. I have a Girlfriend that is a legal librarian, thus i am willing to take this full term, as i can do it for minimal cost (maybe 10% of hiring layers) I also believe that I can represent a very good case. Lets hope the BMW does not confront me, and I get the bike. LET US SEE.

As the world go into the shits .. I think this will become a more common story.

Hope you manage to recover your money

As i have discussed earlier with other forum members, crash bars will protect against slow speed crashes, insurance will protect against high speed. BUT, high speed, hope that you survive.

If you are at all concerned, read the fine print on insurance, discuss your insurance with you insurance agent.
MOST IMPORTANT. make sure that all explanations are in writing. 'So if i crash my bike off road, my fault, what happen?' Insurance agent says 'Yes you are covered no matter the circumstances of the crash.'
Even if the contract does not say THAT, you can peruse that legally as miss representation of contract, only if consumer, not commercial contract, within Australia.

By the way, DONT BE A PUSSY. (JOKE)

How are things progressing with your bike mate? Have you received your deposit back?

Does anyone work for BMW that can search a chassis number? getting mixed messages

OK, i have a letter in writing from the dealer (in receivership) that states my YET TO BE DELEIVERED f800gs chassis number.
BUT BUT BUT, BMW Australia HQ says that there is not order.

SO, is anyone on this forum search a BMW world wide database???? Further, can they confirm or deny the order/ chassis number internationally????

Extensive help needed/wanted! (I wish that I could order an alternative bike, but the KTM990 is to expensive.) Suggestionsotherwise are welcome?

Glad to hear that someone is listening. I rang BMW HQ for them to say...quote "we never accepted the order from the dealer'"

To paraphrase, ‘yes we received to order but did not honour it’. That almost means that BMW HQ allowed the licensed dealer to trade for 4mths plus while not accepting orders from them.

I ask the question, WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW A DEALER TO TRADE UNDER YOUR LICENCE WITH OUT ACCEPTING ORDERS?

But the day after I rang BMW HQ I received a letter from the former dealer quoting my chassis number.

SO, who is talking BS, who is telling the truth, OR is it just a simple mistake.

Well this has all happened in the pre-week/week of expected delivery.

SO WHAT DO I DO????????????????:nenau

Further, i have already scouted alternative serviecing options if i ever reeiceive the bike

THERE is no point in naming or shaming the dealer(moto one, oakleigh, victoria, australia) they have gone under. BMW HQ on the other hand will never receiver any business from me or as many people as i can make possible. As far as I'm concerned it is their fault as they allowed a “dealer” to order bikes that BMW HQ would not honour. That means that BMW HQ allowed the dealer to trade under a false licence.

I don't want to big note, but my family consists of (of which I am the youngest) three doctors, one multimillion million business manager(self made) and myself, a future HR business manager currently studying.

I may set the trend for the future buying habits for the other 4 members of my family, and I will talk them out of a BMW purchase at every chance.

so sorry

I feel your pain, I put GBP4500 (Debit card) down on a new 990S KTM Adventure two years ago and the same happened to me, bike had never been ordered, the dealership even rang me for the remainder of the money a couple of days before they went into receivership.

The receivers then came in and apparently took whatever cash was left over as 'fees' and now it is under investigation. So two years later I still have not received any monies.

I just hope it works out for you and you get the bike you really want and your deposit back. :(

I hear your story. I would be out with a knike it I lost that much. Sorry that is like $8000AUD+ at the time. I will now treat every major order/purchase (house, car, bike, etc) with added caustion.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL (Should we really be needing to ask this question???)

Snowlife pardon me for being a dosey twat and I am totally sympathetic with you don't get me wrong!

But why are you blaming BMW for something that is basically not in their control?

If the dealer is unscrupulous and fills in the right paperwork then BMW will "probably" not know anything until the receivers step in just like the rest of you

This could have happened with any dealer KTM YAM HONDA SUZUKI??

"So why cut your nose off to spite your face?"

AS I say I am sympathetic with you but it's not BM's fault the dealer folded?

to contrast.

yes I understand your argument. I wish that I that I could go after them, BUT here is no money there (they are in recivership).

I will, if it comes to that, i will try to persue BMW under other state's legerslation. I will hold hope at to this point. We will see what happens.

BTW, if anyone on this forum is fishing for specific info, no go. Contact me face to face.

I will challenge BMW with all my legal knowledge (university for 6 yeas, 2 legal secutaries and recently retired business people who have had severs legal cases.

Yes but did they ever receive it and was a bike ever ordered in the first place???????

Latest update, I have a chassie number.

So i could just be a simple search error on BMW HQ part, that is why they did not find my order.

Will keep all posted at SAME BAT TIME. SAME BAT PLACE.
