Had an autocom active smart for the last 3 years with no problems- until now.

When both myself and Mrs Haydw are plugged in and stationary there is no problem- we can move the cables about and we hear each other no problem. As soon as we set off all I get is a loud static-like noise, It seems to disappear as soon as the Mrs unplugs, Today on a ride out mine has started triggering when there is hardly any wind and the noise sounds like it is very squeeky instead of hearing the usual wind noise when the wind triggers it.

The only thing I have done is change my headset loom as the cable was coming apart from the plug, plus two new curly extension cables. Even then, it has worked fine for the last couple of weeks. It is as if the vox circuit is false triggering- the passenger one only goes off once we are moving. Have tried our original extension cables and still get the same thing.

Can anyone give me any ideas? Does it look like my main unit is knackered and will have to be replaced??

Couple of wild guesses......

Crud in the passenger lead?
Accidentally swapping the rider and passenger lead around?

The problem could be one of the main leads coming off the main control unit as John has said maybe soem dirt has got inside the din plug. But this normally causes a lot of sound coming through the leads. So maybe you could check the leads are are ok. Swapping them around will not make any difference on the Active so you will not need to worry on this one.
