Autocom Advice

Hello all, I have just sold an 07 GS and let it go with my zumo 550 and autocom (pro avi?) i think, I kept my kenwood radio for the next bike.
I have a new GSA on order but have realised that autocom have changed the models, I never rated my last one for anything else other than bike to bike and pillion to passenger, you couldnt hear the zumo with earplugs in.

With these new models bluetooth etc is there a better way to connect than my old way wired or is that still advised?

I am planning on getting a zumo 660 what advice is out there for best autocom and how to connect, i will want to use my kenwood for bike to bike and it would be nice to hear sat nav and be able to use phone?

Just got back from a trip to Northern France and we had a collection of 8 bikes, with 6 bike to bike radio. All had Autocom, ranging from the one you used to have fitted and the newer version. We used mainly Kenwood radios and I had an older Icom one. They all worked very well. My preference is go for the old pre 2009 kits. Hope this helps,

If you're wearing ear plugs you'll struggle to hear most 'accesories' - my Ipod is too quiet too.

Only answer really is to use a headphone amplifier, and there ae plenty out there - do a search on here for starters.

Nigel, I'm curious to know why you recommend pre 2009 kit.

From personal experience of using pre 2009 Autocom, Starcom Digital, and finally Autocom post 2009, the post 2009 is considerably better than the rest; both rider to pillion and bike to bike. The post 2009 kit has better clarity, is more intelligible at all speeds, and its noise canceling technology is a real advance over the older Autocom stuff

I left my old Autocom on the bike when I bought a new one. Fitted a Logic 1 and can hear the Zumo, listen to music and use the bike to bike at very illegal speeds.

I didn't have a major problem with the old Autocom but the volume control on the new one is a big help
