I have just got the Kit 300 -Super Pro AVi. with Kenwood radios and the fitting looks fairly straightforward.
I just have a couple of questions

1) when I wire the radio into the interface do I leave the battery on or take it off? ( I guess I take it off, but want to make sure)

2) I have a F650GS (twin) what's the best place to put the radio? Will its position, probably under the seat, affect the reception?

If you're bike powering the radio, then the lead incorporates the battery and looks like this:

If you just got the audio lead which looks like this:

Then you'll need to have a (charged) battery fitted in order for the radio to work.

Where you put the radio is a trade off between signal and convenience.

You can leave it under the seat and get a reasonable level of signal, but for best transmission distance, have it as high as you can, with the antenna vertical. Strapped to your shoulder courier stylee is good :thumb2
