Whilst stripping down the back end of my bike, lock mechanism snapped, I found the following connections (See Pics), any one know what they are, and can I take a supply off them for the autocom, GPS etc.

Also, the space in the fuse box allows the new Autocom to slot straight in, will have to grommet the fuse box for the cabling, any thoughts anyone,

Gary.

Check this thread out for the connector info: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15206&highlight=charcoal

I tried that one when fitting my Autocom, there's no juice in it so I ended up breaking into the green wire from the ignition. It means taking the tank off (real pain when it's full!) but it's clean. I've mounted my Autocom by the battery and run the cables up to the tankbag.

There is a feed in the fuse box but it's a right pain to get to and make a proper job of it.

I've got photo's but can't post them yet.

Under the front of the tank there is an accessory socket, I posted a thread on this a while ago. You do not have to completly remove the tank to use it.

I saw your post but couldn't find an orange cable or connector even with the tank off. Am I looking at the wrong end of the bike?

Are you sure you are working on your bike, last time you had this problem you were trying to fit Banana exhaust pipes to your lawn mower!

The blue thingy I seem to remember isn't of any use for an autocom. The other gives ignition switched 12V again if I remember correctly. I couldn't find anywhere that would supply the right gender fitting as the bit it goes onto is normally measuring or doing something eg fuel injector on the GS.

I gave up in the end and scotchblocked into the lights feed which will have all the electrical fanaticals sucking thier teeth. Another option for unswitched 12V is the accesory socket down by your left foot and is easily accessed. BM also supply another accessory socket kit for which the cabling reaches up to the tank / battery area for powering GPS, Autocom etc.
