Hi,

I have part 1402 to hook up the Kenwood to my pro rider.

I have a problem though - I have the radio under the seat but when I power on the bike and speak it won't transmit. If I turn off the Kenwood and then back on again keeping the bike powered - THEN it works.

Seems like the radio doesn't recognise the headset is plugged in when it's first switched on or something.

My autocom works perfectly using motorola radio so my unit is ok.

I have checked voltages across terminals on 1402 @ 8.62V which is correct according to autocom.

Anyone else had this or is it normal? I was expecting to be able to simply have the radio switch on and set at the correct volume and it just comes alive when I power the bike up.

Any help gratefully received and appreciated.

It is powered by the bike - I am using part 1402 which replaces the Kenwood battery and also plugs into the headset ports.

I am not using a PTT button.

What's weird is that the system functions perfectly if I turn on the radio using the volume knob after I've powered up the bike. If I leave the volume knob set at that position and turn off the bike, then turn the bike back on the system stops working until I turn the radio off and then back on again using the volume knob.....

Does anyone have any instructions on resetting the Kenwood to it's factory default settings?

thanks.

Have not come across this before, it may be worth adding a PTT to the set up? But apart from that it sounds like a radio issue and as you mention it could be a good idea to reset the radio. Sorry i cant help anymore with that one!

Same issue

My 3201 does just the same if I down power it from the bike, and forget to switch off the vox on the PTT.

I just switch off the ignition, put the toggle switch in mid position and then turn the ignition on again.

Must be a Kenwood thing !
