Help,

As usual I'm stumbling in the dark.:rob
I have just managed to get the last of the half price Autocom units :thumb It's a Kit 300 Super Pro Avi Rider Kit. with extra headset for £147:thumb2
I wanted to connect to my TT v2. as well as listen to swmbo (two lots of bossy women telling me where to go:blast) so I bought the bluetooth adapter (part 1273).
Now the good bit:spitfire after dissasembling the fuse box soldering the power lead in ( thanks to whoever posted that thread it was a huge help:beer:) powering up the main unit etc. etc the BT doesn't power up!

The supplier of the Bluetooth seems to think the main unit may be "an older one that needs a mod to power the adapter"

How to I tell?:nenau
Have I been sold a lemon:nenau?
What's the mod?:nenau and do I have to take the main unit off the bike and send it back?:nenau
Or is it a duff adapter:nenau?
How do I tell:nenau?

Please feel free to take the p*** but I would like some advice too (about the Autocom before you start)

Alan

Hi Alan,

I had a 300 Super Pro Avi fitted to my 07 GSA new from BMW March last year, just got a BT unit from Autocom, but had the same problem, No power ?

Turns out the unit they fitted is a 06 model (little pissed as they must have fitted old stock), 07 models have a powered Aux1 port.

The mod is simple to do if you have a soldering iron. You have to put a link on the board and solder into place. The details are in the user manual on page 11 (link below)

http://www.autocomamerica.com/files/Super Pro Instructions.pdf

Once linked the Aux1 port has power.

Goodluck

How do you tell which dongle you require??

I have a kit 200 duo, anyone know if this will power a dongle??

thanks

Just had a response from Chainspeed they have been great unlike Bikestop who I bought the, apparently, old stock main unit from.

Anyway the response was:

Does the main unit have a blue & white sticker on the side with a picture of a 4 pole plug? If it does not, it is old stock and needs a modification.

This in response to the problem with the kit 300. don't know about the 200?

Thought I had a bargain guess you get what you pay for! Still thought I could trust an Authorised dealer1

You can either send the unit back for modifcation or swap the 1273 for a 1276, which has an external power lead..

I've got the kit 200 set up as follows.
Works with tomtom rider V1, and phone via bluetooth
Its wired up to the horn fuse via the excellent "jumper cable" mod posted on the site previously:
fusetap.jpg

Earthed via the seat mounting.

autocomsetup.jpg

tomtom adaptor / connector (1297) is left and bluetooth (1276) is right, velcro'd onto top of case

connected tomtom lead to aux 3 and bluetooth to aux 1.

Wired bluetooth power inline with autocom power lead

My tomtom has a bluetooth dongle, the lead from aux 3 goes to the dongle direct which I keep in a little bag on the side of the bike.

Took it out today without incident, working a treat. Did not connect phone to tomtom though, just headset, did not have any connections problems.

I've fitted a new autocom to a mates bike which he'd also got the bluetooth adaptor, It fired up straight away on aux 1.

I did not think my 'new' autocom was an older unit and nearly sold the adaptor to buy a new version... glad I tried it one more time!!
Hope this helps!

Autocom are great

Just had a response from Autocom ( Thanks Richard).
Offering to sort the whole thing for me!
ie. send it back and they are going to upgrade the unit so that it will supply power via Aux 1.

It's not easy to do but I'm impressed!:thumb2.

Hi Alan,

To speed it up a bit and to save you a lot of time stripping the bike you could just post me the main circuit board.

If you unpeel the sticker you will see two screws, if you pop these out you will be able to unplug all the leads off the main circuit board. If you pop the board back to me in the post then its job done.

Thanks Again Autocom

Rich,

I've only just twigged what you said earlier:blast
Circuit board out and on it's way. I will order the power lead parts from soeone else and do that bit myself. :thumb2 ( didn't realise the bit about the sticker covering the screws until I read this thread:blast:blast)

I'm slow but I usually get there in the end:rob

Thanks again

Alan
