I got my Bluetooth adapter earlier this week and when I tried it without my earplugs it was so loud it was actually painful 
I was near Silverstone today and I had a chat with the Autocom chaps in advance, and decided that a visit was the best way of sorting my problem. It turned out that the volume on my bluetooth was waaaaaay too loud for use with an XDA, and it was flashed with suitable firmware to drop the volume level.
