Autocom conundrum

Today I was fitting an Autocom to mates bike but have stumbled onto a small problem.

Phone pairs to the Zumo 550 perfectly.

The Zumo is hardwired to an Autocom Pro 7 Sport through Autocom Part No 1299.

Music plays from the Zumo, through the Autocom to the helmet very clearly.

If someone rings to the phone they can be heard very clearly inside the helmet.

The problem occurs when the rider tries to speak to the person on the other end of the call, he cannot be heard at all. So, what is the problem and what is needed to fix it please?

I have the Part 1299 as recommended in that thread Jay. I did look at Part 1300 on ebay and it seems that it suits the retro Autocom units which the Pro 7 Sport seems to be. 38 feckin quid though.

Check that Zumo mic. has been disabled and is switching through to the Autocom Mic.
I seem to recall having this problem myself...along with just about every other problem imaginable!
The solution I am afraid, is to speak to Autocom. I think they will talk about a "Y" piece being needed but will certainly be able to sort the problem out.

Aidan, from memory (when I used an Autocom) I had an Autocom bluetooth dongle plugged into my autocom. Sorry can't remember the dongle part number.

It paired with the phone and Zumo, so no need for plug-in cables at the Zumo end.

It worked perfectly.

Had similar problem. Think this is the right lead but give Chainspeed a quick call. Knows his stuff and saved me hours of messing about.

Hi Aidan,

If the 1299 cable has a 4-pole plug at the Autocom end, you might need a different cable for the older-type 3-pole phone input on the Pro-7 Sport.

Check with Chainspeed.

Thanks chaps. I gave Autocom a ring last week and the man there told me that I needed a special cable, Starcom CAB-55 for the princely sum of £38.

All working now though.
