Autocom fitting query

Hi there, wonder if someone here more technically adept can help?

I have bought an old but fully functional Autocom 3000 intercom unit which I want to fit to a 2003 GS1150. I also want to connect a PTT switch, to enjoy bike-bike coms plus listen to music from a iPhone or iPod. GPS integration is not required.

Anyway, its meant to be easy to fit but I'm having trouble finding a space to fit the main control box where it can be accessed, with relative ease, to adjust the controls etc. The usual place is under the seat I believe, but there seems insufficient room. Or should it go somewhere else?

Can anyone tell me how to do it and/or send some pix of how to do it?

Kind words indeed many thanks! Ok so i hope this helps if you need to call me no worries just give me a bell. Yes under the seat in what would have been your tool holder is the best place, it is a squeeze but most autocoms will fit. Some after market seats make the fit space smaller! lol

You can also fit the control box up front or in a tank bag but most people seem to want it under the seat! PTT will depend on if you want to power the radio or run it from the Radio Batt and model etc. Autocom and Chainspeed are the main stockest of the older Autocom units. Parts now have to be specially made so a quick call to Paul at Autocom will get you those parts. I do stock some older parts but concentrate on the 2009 units onwards.

For reference purposes I was able to fit an Autocom Active Plus into the tool tray and still fit the owner's manual and toolkit in on top of it (admittedly I do have the high seat set at the highest setting which helps).

It took me longer to find the canbus connector (they have moved it slightly on the 2010 GS) then it did to actually wire the unit in and it works absolutely fine.
