About to fit both prior to first trip abroad with SWMBO - a few questions?

1. If GPS wired thro' autocom does passenger also hear instructions?

2. If so is there a separate volume control for rider & pillion on Autocom? (SWMBO has much better hearing than me & volume needed for me to hear instructions would probably deafen her)

3. Is it best to just use direct lead from GPS when needed i.e. when navigating thro' large towns / cities - there again even tho' I avoid such places where possible I suppose it would be a bit of a pain having to stop & change leads each time.

Never having used such kit before these questions may seem a bit dim, thereagain that fits in with me generally:D

And why am I not out on Beaky on such a lovely Sunday morning? Cos I only found out I'd got a puncture last night:mad:

Thanks

Ade

Answers:

  1. Yes
  2. No - when you're feeling rich, go for 2 pairs of in ear speakers, but use in-line attenuators bespoked to your individual audio preferences (speak to headset Services at Shoreham airport)
  3. You should only be using the special Autocom lead (GPS -> Autocom)

Sorry it's a bit short, but I'm off out asap!

Hi Ade

Unfortunately the pillion has to listen to Sally's instructions as well as you but I find that if you reduce the volume to 1 you just get that prompt in your ear that then makes you look at the screen for instructions.
The other way round it is to turn of the voice prompts and just have the attention tone on at vol.1 and then you just get a 'bing' in your ear when an instruction is imminent.
Hope this helps

Or..........
....... If you want I could put your good lady a small switch into the lead of her headset so she can turn off the speakers in her helmet - very easy to do and opperate. Let me know
Sherps;)

Got to say my pillion finds the gps instructions of great benefit. She now knows when I am going to turn left or right and approaching islands plus which exit I intend to take. This lets her prepare for braking and stops her bashing helmets.

Anyone sort this out?

Want to get an Autocom system where rider and passenger can talk to each other, rider hears GPS but no music, passenger hears music but no GPS.
Guys at Autocom were a bit nonplussed and couldn't really help. Only suggestion was for an Easi-7 with phone connection used for music and the other input used for the GPS. Sounds a bit of a lashup to me. Any suggestions?
