Hello All

New to this site and came across it by word of mouth. UKgser has already answered so many questions for me but there is one still to be asked; Has anyone installed an autocom intercom system to their 800GS and what your thoughts are. Looking to spend £150 on a system and Autocom intercoms seem to be the right choice, I think...

Need advice.

Many thanks

There are a number of very good systems out there now and Autocom is definately amongst the very best.

Members of this site work directly for Autocom and we therefore get first hand advice and guidance, so that may sway your decision.

I have the autocom duo and found it to work very well, done approx 4,000 miles the only complaint i had with the set up was i used VOX to speak bike to bike,i found with the tourx helmet on it never seemed to work perfectly as to much wind noise,i now have a push to talk and its fab!

The box fits nicely at the rear of the bike completety enclosed so stays water tight,i have a walkman, two way radio set up permanent and its all fine
I would recomend it however i have not used any other sysytem!:thumb2

Where have you permenantly mounted your radio?
I'm still looking for a good place to mount...

I've had autocom's on my last few bikes. Still working 12 years on....
The Autocom team are also really helpful and prompt with queries.

Thanks,
Steve

I use an Active 7 smart and have it plumbed into the Canbus socket underneath the dummy tank cover. There's a slot under there that's just right for the control box, and the leads all fit under the cover and exit nicely under the seat.
I use mine with an Icom FS22 (?) radio, but have that under the tail cover. I had to extend the power lead and audio cable, but it works fine for me. No PTT but the VOX control seems more than adequate even with my Tour-X. Hardwire audio from the Zumo and Bluetooth for the phone..Ideal!

Interestingly, and contrary to what Bob at Autocom advised, the Active 7 Smart WILL provide power through an appropriate cable to the radio...

The radio is fitted directly above the battery, with the seat down there is a small void which fits a small handheld and the walkman.Closer to the front,in a nut shell directly under your arse when sat normal.
Its not bracketed to anything so i can remover it charge it etc,all the leads are mounted underneath and have the main talk cable(sorry do not know the tech term)Coming out at the side of the ignition switch,it was a bit of a hassle taking the panels etc away but at least its all out of the way.
Sorry i cant send you any pictures i am out of country for another few weeks yet.
Hope this helps
Andy
