Autocom interferance DL1000

[its all poo]

Any one got any ideas when I plug the power to a zumo on a DL1000 there is whining on the autocom when the engine revs, have called autocom and they cant tell me how to stop it have installed ground loop and the supressor box from autocom

How have you routed the power cable? If it's anywhere near the ignition / HT leads / plugs then it'll definitely pick up interfereance.

You MAY be able to reduce it by getting some braided tube and running the power cable through this, then earthing the braid to the frame (create a pigtail and crimp on a ring tongue).

What lead/s are you using to connect the Zumo into your system?

The cable with the box half way down that is specificaly for the Zumo cant think of the number ?
I have moved the box and cables and even held everything well off the bike
The whine comes when there is power to the zumo. With zumo or intercom on batteries no noise, Have tried the power wire to the battery seperate with one connected to the real light ect. Have instralled a car audio suppresor. Any more ideas please

wonder if you have used a different earth point for the zumo from the rest of the kit?
might be that itself or maybe a poor earth connection...

as was said earlier, if the zumo lead is routed anywhere near generator/ignition circuits it will pick up whine....

We have routed the cable in the air with the autocom 2 feet from the bike and the whine is still there, We have tried different earth points. So we are sat looking at the bike scratching are heads. Somebody moved the autocom and for the hundreth time, it was moved from lying flat to standing on its side and this time the whine stopped !?!?!?!?!? So we have fixed it upright, just test rode the bike and no noise ?!?!? but for how long fingers crossed. Time will tell

I am thinking the problem is down to the bike as if you have tried the whole set up none bike powered this normally shows the bike itself is noisy. Sometimes the earth connection from the engine to the frame can become lose or rusty and this effect the whole bike overall.

It sounds like you have tried everything but have you moved the cable between the Zumo and comms around to see if this helps just to prove out any cable routing issues?
