Does Autocom or anyone else make an adaptor to go from my 7 pin helmet lead straight to a GPS/mps unit via stereo 3.5mm jacks etc?.
This is so I can plug my helmet coms into my GPS and mps away from my bike?, and maybe talk to my phone helmeted.?

would also , the unit power the autocom speakers in the helmet ?.

plan B, is there a very good quiet (noisy pipes) in ear headphones I can use instead on my other bike.:nenau

Have you managed to sort this one out Geoffrey? I would like to know if I can drive the Autocom headset speakers with my Ipod or 2610 connected via a 3.5mm jack/autocom 7pin adaptor, or does anyone know which pins are for the speakers in the 7 pin so I could make up my own lead

I made a lead that takes the 3.5mm mono output of a PMR radio into the speakers on a 7pin autocom helmet extension lead. You can have it if you want. It shouldnt take much to make it into a stereo lead.
I made it so I could listen to myself transmitting over a radio link giving "riding commentary"
PM me of you want it (for free)

Thanks for the offer but I was thinking of splitting my autocom lead in two seperate 3.5 m plugs, one for earphone and one for voice etc to connect to the Garmin Zumo 660 leads and make my now redundant autocom head set useful again.
I can plug stereo headphone in but find them uncomfortable and quiet ish?.
I have put EAR type earplugs foam on the speakers instead of the rubber cones and that seems to work sometimes.

is auto com still trading? if not how good is the starcom gear?
I know allways with the questions:nenau

Autocom products are now being manufactured by Starcom.

Below is a quote from another forum about the relative merits of the 2 systems.
"We have lots of experience with both Autocom and Starcom1. Each system has advantages (and deficiencies) when compared with the other.

What's different about Starcom1 is the mics are 'open' all the time. The vox just brings up the level of the intercom voice, but it never closes the mic completely. Starcom1's bike to bike and push to talk setup is friendlier than Autocom's. The units are also much smaller, which on a GS is a real advantage. Starcom1's headset speakers really sound great.

The new Autocom systems, OTOH, are remarkably versatile. The noise cancellation on the Super Pro-Automatic is way better, hands-down, as is the adjustable sensitivity for the background noise sensor. Having all aux sockets as stereo inputs with mic out, is the right way to go about the design.

We expect consolidation of both ranges of systems - there's a tremendout amount of product redundancy, so it'll be interesting to see which products and features remain and which ones dont make the grade."

I still sit on the Autocom side of the fence.

I've stuck it in the "free" section of FS&W

Autocom to iPod 3.5mm jack

I want to use my Autocom headset direct into an iPod.
Maplins were skeptical over the phone that they could help me even make up a wire.
There is nothing like it on the Autocom website. I phoned today (18 May2013) and the number is not recognised. Obviously, being bought out by Starcom means perhaps that office is not operational but the mail order probably still works.

I have a starcom1 system too. I'd be interested in getting either headsets to work direct into mp3.

Any current advice or options, anyone?

Lead constructed

So, I went in person to Maplin. 7pin male and female connectors on the shelf.
I bought a female to connect directly to my headset and a 4 pole 3.5mm jack.
I used the pin out schematic in the thread above. It's easy to misread the diagram. I was holding the female connector 'solder side' as per the diagram and it didn't work. So I tested the continuity between the pins and the soldered connections on the 'phones. This established that I needed to do the opposite. Essentially, the diagram is correct though.

For the jack, I didn't need a 4 pole but I put the two positive leads to the centre and tip and grounded the negatives and the copper shield together into the spur.

It works, autocom headset to ipod but, after all that, the headset sounds rubbish! (It was brand new, earphones only, no mic connected to the red mic connector).

The lead vocals and lead guitar are quiet, as if it's been recorded in a bath. Backing vocals come through way stronger than they should.

The sales assistant assured me the headphones will sound great. Is there any thing to do with the soldering that could have adversely affected the should quality?

Otherwise I'm back to ear buds. If there is nothing i can do, the headset it for sale. anyone want my brand new headset for £20 posted, pm me.

Well I just went though my headset. I had to rewire it after 6 years sound was cutting out due the broken wire. While I was looking for the intermittent broken wire I used my ipod shuffle to drive the headphone speakers. It sounded good and definitely was able to get loud enough you would not want to listen to id right up to your ear. Though I was connecting it right up to the headset connector and not thru the extension connector. So it should work for you. Sorry could not be more help.

Has anyone managed to snag a 7 pin din female to 3.5mm stereo jack lead yet?

I DID actually have one....I bought it from autocom about 2007?

But I've lost it !!!Sods law!!! :blast

Last resort will be making one up, I've done several, but they're never as good as an oem....especially the rubberised ones, rather than the plastic pvc ones....
