I had been having trouble with music on my 660 connected via hard wired Autocom Active 7 Smart.

I recently ordered the new isolated music / voice lead from Chainspeed for the Autocom specifically to cure this problem. Chainspeed delivered the lead in quick time - excellent service from them. I am happy to report that the lead has worked and the music is louder (easy to hear now) and voice prompts are fine.

Only thing I couldnt get working is the Phone system - I can hear fine but no mic working (the new lead has a specific mic connection for the Zumo) but I did after all buy the lead to cure the music problem - so i am happy!
If anyone else come accross the same and found a solution for the phone please let me know
(Blackberry 9780 bluetoothed to Zumo 660 - 660 hardwired to Autocom Active 7 Smart, tried music and phone port, neither allow microphone to work.)

Cheers

Hi - just been down this road with a Super Pro Avi - the problem and the solution is the same. The problem is that neither Autocom unit was designed for modern stereo phones etc so you have to mod the unit to get full functionality. What is happening at the moment is that your unit is auto-muting the microphone as soon as you speak on the phone - it doesn't know that you are not just talking to your passenger. The solution is to remove the auto-mute which requires a bit of courage and a fine soldering iron - dead easy actually! Open up your Autocm unit and locate the component with the number 221 on it - you may read it as 122 if upside down - the attached diagram will help find it. This component is surface mounted so, if you heat it with a soldering iron it will lift off very quickly. Once removed, everything will work fine including telephone but you will not get muting of you music when you speak to your pillion - whoever does!

Very easy mod - no other damage - works first time! Alternative is to buy one of the new digital units!

Thanks for that info - you are right it would be very daring of me to open the unit and take this part out - even more daring of me to not mute the music when the missus speaks!

But thanks anyway.

Rik - it only sounds difficult - its very straightforward and will sort the problem immediately. The alternative is to use Bluetooth to connect to the Autocom but I found the quality poor on the GPS info - music and phone were fine though.
