I've replaced my autocom today to a new kit3 so i can use a radio.
In doing so I've had to replace the sat nav cable that was used on my old set up as it was wired in an odd way.
But now I get a buzzing that becomes a harsh 'noise' noise when you press a button on the sat nav.
I've noticed the old plug had one black ring where the new one has two.
Do I need a special lead for the BMW navigator 2?

I'd give the factory a ring - I'm concerned about the "wired in an odd way" .
Does the new cable have a black isolator box that must be used with bike powered sat-navs to avoid ground loop noise? Did the old cable as well?
The Autocom should be earthed to the battery negative lead directly.
Which port on the Autocom (presuambly a Kit 300?) are you using - you could try AUX3 rather than AUX4 and see if you still get the buzzing.
The output from the Nav2 is mono (one-ring on the plug).

Ah that may be the issue. I've just used a standard wire. The old one had a box but was then wired into the radio port on the autocom rather than one of the 3.5mm aux sockets. Which i considered odd, may not be so strange now.
Yes its a kit300, and I tried moving port with no difference. I think it looks like the cable.
Strangely my house mate fitted the same kit to her bike at the weekend with a bike powered zumo, she is getting interference with increases with engine reves. could this be the same issue, showing in a less severe way?

Your housemate will definitely definitely need a cable with an isolator in it - without it you will get rev-dependent intereference. Now that it is wired in, the easiest thing to do is to place a 1286 isolated music mixer between the existing cable and the Autocom AUX3 port, rather than using a new 1314 cable. Things get more complicated if you want mobile phone functionality as well.

Ideally our parts 1285 and 1294 should be used, these will plug into the AUX4 socket which is the main GPS connection on your Pro, the AUX2 and 3 sockets are mainly there for music and run a stereo connection not mono.
