Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone can help.

I have a Garmin 550 connected to an Autocom Pro 7 Sport. Used for several years without issue until now

Several weeks ago the music started to become a bit intermitant, sometines ok sometimes quite poor, other times nothing at all. Now the music is non existant all the time.

I have tested the Garmin by connecting normal ear phones to the out socket and all is fine there. I have also connected the music lead that connects the Garmin to the autocom, again all is good there.

So I guess that the actual Autocom unit must be the problem.

Any suggestions to fix the problem or would it be best to replace it with something more modern

Comments please

Thanks

Heff

Have you tried using contact cleaner on the plugs on the leads to the headset Heff? They can get dirty which results in crackling or even loss of sound.

I've got exactly the same setup & had exactly the same problem (by the sound of it).

Mine turned out to be the output socket on the bike mount.

Try riding with your finger pressed on the lead where it plugs into the mount. If that cures it, that's what it is.

Garmin replaced my mount (fnar fnar :D) FOC & it was out of warranty.......

I would suspect a dodgy connection on the input, does the unit have another input you could try?

If you can get to the input socket (and assuming it is a dry joint or broken circuit board track) you could probably solder it up easily enough.

If not look at on eo fthe newer models, Chainspeed tend to have good deals on them, the only real downside is I think the headsets are different so you owuld need to fit them as well.

Sorted

Hi all and thanks for your responses.

It turns out it was quite an easy fix really.

This morning I decided to remove the Autocom for a closer inspection.

The wire used to connect to the power source was broken off. Re-connected and all is now well. :bounce1 I couldn't see this before as the joint was taped over.

DOH!!!!:blast

Note to self.....check everything next time:rob

Thanks again
