Autocom Super Pro Duo Kit.

Hi,

I have just ordered the above kit like most as the price is a bargain at the moment but I have a few questions which have probably bee covered here somewhere.

I will fit the head pieces into 2 Arai helmets, (no problem so far) but I do swap from one to the other depending on trip - time of year etc. so is it possible to have a noise sensor fitted in both ? - Sometimes my lad goes on the back - same size head so I may use both helmets at the same time, would this cause a problem. and do the headsets supplied both take noise suppresion.


I will be using a Zumo 500, Ipod and a mobile. Which leads do I need for the Zumo 500 ? or do I go the bluetooth route and if so which part is required?

My phone currently talks to Zumo and I can handle my phone through the Zumo, is it best to stick to this route as I may be changing my phone shortly

Daft question - how do I answer the phone when it rings and cancel a call when I finished ? - I think I can do this through Zumo so I may well be being very dumb here

I currently use ear plugs (Alpines) and if I am listening to music then some in ear monitors which cut down wind noise. Can I still use ear plugs with the system or do I go for in ear monitors? If I do which ones and how do they link into the autocom system?

Sorry for the long thread and I know its a load of questions but any help, advice and links would be really appreciated.

I can answer a couple of your queries :- you can use ear plugs and the system speakers and hear your music, pillion etc with no problems but you must take care in placing the speakers as per the instructions.

The noise sensor should be in the riders helmet but i can see no reason why you can't change it from helmet to helmet but it would be a pain in the a**e as you have to place them quite well to make them work well.

A suggestion if you are using a Tour-X get the open face kit (only a couple of quid) and it improves things no end.

I expect others will be along shortly with answers to the rest of your queries.

Thanks for that - I have a tour x and a chaser so open face kit sounds like a good idea. I was going to buy an extra noise sensor so I didn't have to swap em around and wondered if that was ok

1) Rider and pillion cannot both use helmets with BGNS at the same time - so install it in the helmet you use most.
2) If you're going to use the Ipod to play music, and you're happy to listen in mono to any music you might possibly put on the Zumo, then you can use the 4-pole phone lead supplied in the kit into Aux 1 on the Autocom. The Zumo will prioritise between the phone, satnav instructions and its own music.
3) The music lead supplied in the kit can be used to connect the Ipod into the Aux 3 socket on the unit. Satnav instructions will mute the music from the Ipod.
4) If you want to use in-ear monitors with a 3.5 mm stereo jack then order part 1187 that has the required adaptor socket.

I suggest you start with this set up and find out its limitations before ordering more stuff that you may never need. You can always retrofit with Autocom.

In my reply to point 2) above, since the Zumo is bike powered, you will in fact some isolation againt ground loop effects. You could consider part 1299 to connect the Zumo to the Autocom AUX 1 socket or use the bluetooth adaptor 1276.

Why run a seperate Ipod when the Zumo has got its own MP3 player, and Jon you are so wrong on the phone lead being used for the Zumo or an MP3!!!

The correct parts should be our Part 1273, 1314 and if you are still wanting run a seperate MP3 player this will plus straight into the AUX 3 socket with the music lead supplied within the kit.

Thanks for the info guys,

Autocom arrived today and test run works well, I have ordered part 1273 for the Bluetooth to Zumo which will go into Aux 1, I have tried the Ipod from in Aux 2 which works fine.

I am probably going to install the system under the seat as there is loads of room but I have a few bits to think about, controlling the ipod will be a bit of a pain but I have found a remote for it which should help.

Is there a power lead / connector for the ipod ?

Also one last question, where do you terminate the connector leads the rider lead and pillion connections ? I have the end of the leadappearing fromunder the seat but I worry about water ingress when no in use, is there a cap for them or are they ok as they are ?

For the Ipod you will not need the volume control as all you will need to is set the music so its a comfortable volume for when you are stood still the auto volume will look after the rest.

Power leads for the Ipod we can not offer you, but if this something you are looking at you will need to replace your standard music lead with a Part 1314 to get rid of the interference that would come through on the standard lead is used.

The riders lead is routed under the frame so it comes out between the battery and the frame, ran up the tank so the din plug will come out between the tank and the seat between your legs.

The pillions lead is ran back along the frame so it comes out under the pillions seat.

Just to say a big thanks for all the advice received. The autocom is fitted - ipod playing, Zumo bluetoothed and Blackberry coming through loud and clear through the Zumo.

Great bit of kit but now need an excuss for the mrs when she cant get me on the phone !!
