I have an Autocom system and very keen on it. But it's near the end of it's life and even the mic's and headphones will have to be replaced.

I understand Autocom are launching a new range in a couple of months, but even that is described as "semi-digital" (whatever that means). Does anyone have personal experience of the Starcom Digital and Autocom.

I understand other brands such a Sonic, Bauer have little or no general customer support and that Autocom is the market leader. What appeals to me about the Starcom is that it's digital and it's advanced features and very small size.

I expect the new range of Autocom will be back up to a premium price again.

Feedback would be good before I commit.

1) Decide which advanced features of Starcom Digital are going to tempt you away from Autocom
2) Ring Autocom and tell them what your plans are and ask for their comments.
3) Take action accordingly.

The problem is that once you get used to Autocom's powered electric microphone (which has advantages and disadvantages), the other systems that still use passive mikes will have a different "look and feel". You can listen to comparisons on Autocom's website.

I tried the Starcom digital and couldn't get it to work with my Kenwood TK3201 above 20mph. It just isn't as good as it should be, and not as good as Autocom.
Autocom is in a different league, quality. Worked as expected straight from the box. Works with the bluetooth to control TomTom and phone, ipod, Kenwood and intercom all work as they should at any speed.
