I'm sorry to have to ask this but I'm confused as to the best way to set up my comms system with a Zumo 660 and phone (iphone 4s). I'm sure many of you have achieved this quite easily, i'm just struggling to see the right/best way to do it and seem to be making it over complicated :blast

I've had a search through the forum, read the many threads (including a great one by wiz) and even emailed Autocom. My head is battered as there is a lot of conflicting information about which autocom aux ports to use, leads and bluetooth modules etc.

I would like to be able to pair/connect things together so that whilst on the move I can use the intercom system, listen to music (either via zumo sd card or from phone), and operate my phone for calls (iphone 4s). I already have an autocom super pro automatic set up which works fine. I'm in the process of fitting a zumo 660 via the headstock canbus port, I'm just unsure how to get things connected audio-wise for the best results.

Do I need to connect both the heaphone & mic jacks from the zumo to the autocom? I see that the Zumo has 2 bluetooth channels so to speak so do I pair the phone to the Zumo and hardwire the autocom, or is it better to use a b/t module to pair the autocom to the zumo that way as well?

Before I route the cables or buy expensive bluetooth modules that I don't need can anyone offer some advice please? :nenau

I can't help you regarding the Autocom, but the Zumo 660 bluetooth is bloody awful- very troublesome and not great quality. The 660 freezes occasionally, and only when using bluetooth. I would definitely try to find another solution.

I just BT the iPhone to the 660, and BT the 660 to the autocom.

I have almost the same setup, except I've got a zumo 550. The Zumo output is sent to the Autocom via a cable that has both mic and speaker plugs for the zumo. You can get this from Chainspeed who are very helpful. My iphone is connected to the zumo via bluetooth, which is automatic each time I start the bike, phone stays in my pocket.

The zumo has a phone page where you can select numbers from your phone's address book or answer a phone call that comes in, all via the zumo touchscreen.

If you've got problems, call Chainspeed, they are incredibly helpful, have all the parts and will know exactly what you need to get any particular configuration working.

Thank you all very much for the tips. I'll give chainspeed a call before I go down the line of buying any bluetooth modules or anything like that.

Fingers crossed.....

Sam Wray @ chainspeed is the man you want - he's an ex-autocom employee.:thumb2

Autocom and Zumo 660/iPhone

Hi All,

Been reading this thread, along with others with interest..

I too have a Super Pro Auto, with Zumo660 and an iPhone. At first I got the iPhone to pair with the Zumo. All good so far, then was able to see contacts and make calls via a headset (in ear phones etc) again all good.

So then put the Zumo cabled to the Autocom (Autocom state that Cable 4066 must be used for this and that it must go Zumo to Aux3)

Again at first this worked, I could hear the Zumo, I could also make a call and hear the other person I was calling. Again all good :thumb

BUT  then it went all wrong, I could see the connection between the zumo and iPhone was working and it did make the call (zumo to phone or phone to zumo was the same) but no audio for the phone to the autocom...

I have found that it is all down to how you connect to the phone from the zumo, its not an autocom problem, its the zumo/iphone issue.

If you drop all pairing and then do the pairing from the zumo to the phone it will work while you use it first time, turn everything off and you are back to no audio as the zumo tries to take control of the audio, even though the source of the iphone is set to zumo... VERY VERY annoying.

I've now given up and am using the Autocom BTM-02a Bluetooth module for the phone.

I can recommend this and it forces the iPhone to auto answer after 3 rings.. so I can now listen to music via Bluetooth from the iPhone, and answer a call if I get one...

Only downside is that you cant 1. see whos calling you, and 2. you cant make a call from the contact book on the zumo...

I have tried the zumo to iphone via the cable and then BT the zumo to the BTM, but again theres a catch.

The Zumo wants you to pair to the BTM using 1234, yet the BTM wants you to pair using 0000 and theres no way of changing the BTM pairkey into the zumo! doh!

Autocom have been great, they advised on the correct cables to use, how to setup the system etc, but obviously cant control what the zumo and iphone are doing...

just a shame...

Next move to get the bike to bike radios working, ;)
