Hi,

I have just bought a 2010 1200GSA and want to fit the Autocom Pro 7 Sport off the old Africa Twin onto the Beemer...it will fit under the seat where the toolkit goes, and there is a power socket under the seat next to it...not knowing anything about the wiring system is it ok to splice into this cable for the Autocom power or is there another better option?..I only want power with ignition etc...

Yup. Splice it into the aux socket under the seat. It'll go off with ignition and be protected by canbus.

should fit fine. I am mine (superpro avi) in the same spot, spliced into the cable below (accessory socket) which is switched. Seems to keep pretty clean there too.

Hiya and welcome to the forum :thumb2

If you have a search about there are hundreds of posts with 'how to' advice. One I found very informative for this very thing was this post:

I intially used the socket to power my autocom (super pro auto) direct from the splitter cable, which worked fine. However as time went on I installed a PC8 auxillary fuse board made by Jim at Eastern Beaver, as I wanted to power some additional toys such as a USB socket for charging, my Gerbings heated gear and a second power outlet not limited to the annoying 5a like the standard one. I wired the autocom into the fuse board for power and used the splitter cable to provide the switched power source for the supplied relay.

My advice would be to install a similar item if you are thinking of adding more toys to your bike in the future, but if not then keep it simple and just use the splitter. Either way its an enjoyable project. Good luck!

Wow...thanks for all the quick responses...i'll do some reading on the canbus system to try and understand it...:thumb

If it helps..
If you are putting a number of farkles on your bike I'd advise that that you consider starting off by fitting a separate fuse box, something like a Fuzeblock or similar. That way you can have as many switched or non switched feeds as the box can handle. Handy when you want to iuse an optimate or a compressor.

I did a simple ( reversible) mod on the tool tray space shown on this thread This allowed me to fit an autocom and a Fuzeblock together in the same place.
