what music source are you using?
I have a portable cd plugged in but lose the music above 25mph no matter where the speakers are positioned.

Are you sure you're not losing the music due to the vibes rather than sound level. I started off with a CD player and it was useless, even when I got one of the memory jog ones. I'm now using an MP3 and enjoy music right the way through to autobahn speeds.

I use an Archos Jukebox Multimedia. It's a 20 G byte hard disc that currently holds some 700 MP3 songs, plus stores all digital photos I make during the ride. Only problem is to find a proper place that doesn't vibrate too much, which I found at the front of my tank bag with lots of soft tissue stuff under it.

But the great thing is the sound.... I don't use the speakers that came with the Autocom, I have custom made earplus with tiny speakers in them. Sounds is incredible. I put the Archos on low, and can still hear it perfectly while still be able to concentrate and listen to traffic. At the end of the trip you fell fantastic ! I just came back from Barcelona on a total of 3200 Kms, and apart from Butt pain, I feel fine !!

If you can wait a year...

A new device was launched recently (IXI Personal Mobile Gateway) which uses blutooth to network a variety of devices (phones, watches, videos, MP3 players etc). Sanyo and Samsung are the first to perpare compatible devices and the first of these are expected on the market late summer (IT speak for next year)..

...so no wires and a bluetooth earphone the size of an earlug is already available (Bluespoon)....

Whereas Bluetooth headsets are excellent for general personal & in car use, I've doubts as to whether they'd be amplified sufficiently for use in a high ambient noise environment, like a crash helmet.....

Actually.... on my other bike (no Autocom) I use a Sony-Ericsson T68i phone and a bluetooth headset. Headset fits ok with my helmet on, and I can accept calls while riding (I just can call since I need to click on a button on the headset... a bit difficult since it's inside the helmet).

When I receive a call, I hear the name of the person calling (as per my personal address book), and all I do is say "Accept" or "Busy". Sound quality is fine, but I need to slow down to be heard properly (max is about 90 kph).

Can you tell me which Helmet, which headset please.

Helmet is usually a BMW Evo4 (or a Boxer). Headset is the HBH-60. It's a small bluetooth headset that works with any bluetooth phone.

You may have your VOX set too high.

autocomm

Hello,

I used an autocomm for one summer. Than I changed it into a BAEHR. There are some good features at the autocomm but I was not fully satisfied by it.

I had it under the 2nd seat instead of the tyre-reperature-set (is that the right name??), because it was not waterproof.

I changed it into a BAEHR because the BAEHR is technically very good and the quality is super.

Just back yesterday from a quick trip to Normandy to change bikes, so that on Monday I can ride the Normandy bike from Paris to the Dolomites for week of fun in the mountains.... then hopefully to the Belgium GS weekend, and then the BMW meet in Germany.

My butt hurts !!! I hope the receive the fabled Ricky bars by saterday morning, so that the shop can install them saterday PM. That should make a difference.

I now consider myself living on the 'road'....
