Autojumble in Dundrum Dublin tomorrow

Used to go past there and Danfay's on way into Dublin Castle to get a lift home with my mate's Dad. He was in Inland Revenue which I believe is now the Chester Beatty Library. Could pop round to the scrapper in Francis Street or up to Mountjoy for bits for the Bantam. Happy days, the world was our lobster.

...Could pop round to the scrapper in Francis Street...

you can tell the age of a Biker by asking them which side of the street City spares was on when they started riding a Bike. i remember they started off on the left and moved to (bigger better - more dog crap ) the right. :D

made an extremely good two into one system for Mrs Ogs Bike at the time. :thumb2.

Bought a Honda 500 4 off DMG in 1974. Had a warranty issue and Derek referred me to Armstrong's. Them guys had no concept of customer relations; bad memories.
Bike did get sorted; good memories.

And NSU ;) They certainly did the cars & I'm fairly sure they did the bikes (courtesy of Regs racing past) cos I got my first bikes outta there :bounce1 - Quicklies they were & a shittier 'purple' you couldn't imagine :(

Yeah, the old man worked there for the best part of 20 years :augie
Mind you, he was in the Opel / NSU, which went on to become Mini & finally Mazda, end of things.

Jaysus, that brings me back - to think they made glass bottles, milled flour, dispensed gas, manufactured cars, assembled bikes & raced greyhounds all within spitting distance of each other. Now it's just the dogs. And hundreds of feckin' apartments :(

:rob :rob :rob

but at least

there are no jobsworths and Tan coats
only Joe Duffys and 100 euro and hour Service charges

Sure does - right name. He raced a DMG Honda 750 4. Brendan sadly died in a car accident after quitting racing if my memory is correct

Brendan Ryan RIP

Yes you are talking heros now . he raced the 750 against yam 350's and Aermacchi 350 in Skerries . I remember lookiing at the bike and he had 2 x Twin Choke Webers from a racing car stuck in the honda

Reg Armstrongs has a new tank for my CB750 when Ineeded it, perfect match red / gold, cost less than 30 quid (1973?)

DMG - Gas man altogether, has he a place in Amien St. doing water-jet thingies?

Did you ever stop at the back of the Glass works and look in to see them nmaking bottles? My sister made us do that one night coming home tired and emotional form a good night in Neary's.

Nostalgia ain't wot it used to be...

Would not mind a good sob over fish and chips around christmas ....

Although I wouldn't be as old, ooops meant to say nostalgic ;), as you that sounds like a good idea. After the 'big day' would suit me better but let me know what suits you. A few of these other oul codgers might be persuaded to haul their sorry asses out from in front of the fire too :D

chipper

you cannot beat a Smoked cod in Burdocks or any of the italian chippers mcacari or Borza etc

pg

Am having difficulty locating my picture of Brendan Ryan but hopefully it will turn up.............................anyway turned these up in the search......

Do you know any of these racers................two Irish...I think....and my all time hero...not Irish ...but a brave little 250 pilot....:thumb2
